Publisher's Summary

When a woman's whole life falls apart, she finds refuge in the home she left behind in this touching novel from the New York Times best-selling author of Before We Were Yours.

Karen Sommerfield has been hiding from the big questions of her life - the emotional distance in her marriage, her inability to have children, and her bout with cancer. Getting lost in her high-powered career provides the sense of purpose she yearns for. Until the day she's downsized out of her job and the doctor tells her the cancer may be back. It's a double blow that would send anyone reeling.

It sends Karen to Grandma Rose's old farm, where her sister has made a seemingly perfect life. Opening herself to the unexpected, Karen finds a lonely child in need of nurturing and insights into her family's past. In the quiet of the Missouri Ozarks, where the sycamore leaves whisper their soft, secret language, she begins to discover answers - and a joy to make her life complete.

Too long

I have been a fan of Lisa Wingate until this book. It was far too long and indulgent on uninteresting characters

Continuing Saga

This was a beautiful continuation of the Tending Roses series, starting just two years after the first book ends. The protagonist is sister to the first, so the background shifts to a different perspective, but I soon embraced the change.

As with the first story, the family is imperfect, but plausible. The characters don’t change but are viewed thru a different lens. It was another lovely journey.

I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Grama Rose and the Sycamore Trees

The title of this book intertwines with this lovely story. Grama Rose touches the lives of Dell and Karen, they listen to the gentle messages. But that is not all of this book. Love and changes, worries and happiness. Excellent writer is Lisa Wingate and the presentation is so well done.

A beautiful reminder of the true value of life

I loved this book, but if you didnt read tending roses first go back and do that ine first. while i personally loved this book more it does set some things up and a little different perspective on the words that really have deep meaning in this book. its a beautiful story of finding yourself again and how to find your way back to the true and basic purpose of relationships. i found myself reflecting how my life might seem like Karen's or if my life or choices have put me in a similar emotional situation. i recommend this book if you are ready to take an emotional journey about the meaning of life and relationships.
