Great First Installment

The Jasad Heir is a solid debut novel and first installment of a series. Though it has a slow start with too much info dumping, once the story gets going and the characters are firmly introduced, the book is engaging.

The protagonist, Sylvia, is a morally grey heroine with a tragic past filled with loss and abuse. Having lost her family and status as a princess during a war, she lives as a commoner, hiding her identity as well as her restrained magic. I really loved the complexity of Sylvia's character and following her through each difficult choice and harsh revelation from her past. She felt very real.

While I'm not usually a fan of enemies to lovers romances, the dynamic between Sylvia and Arin is the best example I've seen of the trope. They are natural enemies as he is the son of the man who overthrew her family and the way their relationship progresses is authentic.

I'm really looking forward to the next installment of this series.

Loved it!

I loved this book but at times it was a little hard to follow at times! But excited for the next book to come out!

I was completely immersed.

Oh no... it's over... and I need more! Right now please! Ugh, now to begin a painful wait... but it will be so worth it. A+ for every single thing about this book. Wow.

Such potential

I haven’t been this mad about a book in a long time. I’m mad because it had such potential. And it completely fell apart. The magic system wasn’t ever fully explained. I felt like the characters didn’t fully develop. A couple of times that were big reveals with characters, but you aren’t introduced to them enough to even know what’s going on. The main characters magic doesn’t really make sense. I just wanted so much more from this book. I felt like it could’ve used a better editor. The only saving grace was that the narrator was absolutely fantastic.

Overall-Loved

I was a little nervous to start this book, some of the reviews were mixed. The beginning took me a little bit to get into the book, but somewhat expected as the world building takes places. Once I got into it, I loved it. A more unique, non typical, fantasy story than most. I always know when I love a story, because I can’t stop thinking about it when the story is finished. Excited a second book will be coming out to get me back into the Jasad world.

Nice build up of characters and romance

Both main characters are broken people who haven't exoerience true love and honesty. Love how the author is building their love for one another on mutual respect.The honesty between the two is a very slow burn which heightens their sense to one another. Nicely done.

Excellent

This is the book that lead me down a fantasy/romance rabbit whole. I cannot wait for her second book.

My only criticism is the narration is a bit uneven and that’s distracting at points. The accent was unnecessary and it was used inconsistently.

Incredible story; deserves so much more hype

This is my second time listening to this story. Unfortunately, the emotional complexity, the Persian influence and depth was nearly lost on me the first time around. Now, I have a much deeper appreciation for how amazing this story truly is. Narration was incredibly well done, especially with the complex names. Only note was that dialogue had a tendency to get just slightly confusing because the characters were not well distinguished in tone. Overall, an incredible story and well worth the listen. So excited to start the next!

Better than fourth wing

This book is amazing. It has world building, it has enemies to lovers actually fleshed out. I couldn’t stop listening it such an amazing book
