Resumen del Editor

A lost child: On the eve of the first world war, a little girl is found abandoned on a ship to Australia. A mysterious woman called the Authoress had promised to look after her – but the Authoress has disappeared without a trace.

A terrible secret: On the night of her 21st birthday, Nell O'Connor learns a secret that will change her life forever. Decades later, she embarks upon a search for the truth that leads her to the windswept Cornish coast and the strange and beautiful Blackhurst Manor, once owned by the aristocratic Mountrachet family.

A mysterious inheritance: On Nell's death, her granddaughter, Cassandra, comes into an unexpected inheritance. Cliff Cottage and its forgotten garden are notorious among the Cornish locals for the secrets they hold – secrets about the doomed Mountrachet family and their ward Eliza Makepeace, a writer of dark Victorian fairytales. It is here that Cassandra will finally uncover the truth about the family and solve the century-old mystery of a little girl lost.

🎧REVIEW OF The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

BRIEF REVIEW
I was really interested in the 1st half. It was clever that the author interwove fairytales, written by the fictitious authoress in the book. That was well done. This particular audiobook reader (there are multiple versions of the audiobook) was okay--good performance, but wanted more voices.

I didn't enjoy the 2nd half of the book as much because of issues w/ the content. I know I'm a much more sensitive reader than most people, and this went outside my comfort zone. I honestly wish I would have stopped listening b/c certain content made me feel icky. (And I hold my buddy readers ZERO PERCENT responsible for this! Not every book is for every person, and that is OK!)

BRIEF CONTENT GUIDE
😘Cracked door
🙊Mild-moderate language
🍷Mild sub. use
🤕Moderate-severe injury, including themes of death
*Other big TW. See blog for more info

BOTTOM LINE
If you don't mind cracked-door scenes & like books w/ found family, family secrets/scandal, & connecting storylines in different time periods, you may enjoy this one.

Great story but slightly difficult to follow.

Very descriptive. I could see, feel, and hear the creaking ships, the old mansion, and the garden s.
