Great relatable story

I have been through health issues, and hearing someone go through similar feelings, while in these intense situations and had never given up on herself, was so inspiring and encouraging. The author makes you feel all the emotions from the book through her narrative, taking you through ups and downs with her. Highly recommend!

This bad ass chick gives honest and relatable experiences with a positive persevering attitude. I learn a lot about Coast Guard rescue flying from this book which was really interesting and a part of Aviation I didn’t know much about. Thank you Ashlee!!! 💖

Ashlee rescued a woman and her bundles of clothes which were hoisted into 🚁 (Chapter 15). Like the late Leo Buscaglia noted, things are often not what we think!!!!

Hasn’t the CG seen 🎥 “Fate is the Hunter”? Don”t they know water on instruments is potentially fatal?!

Gripping narrative. Met author at WAI yesterday and book finished within a day!

The stories and author’s perspective makes me think of the hymn “Rescue the Perishing”!

The Hurricane Within is a brief look into the life of Ashlee Leppert, which captures her life and her experiences in the Coast Guard. The story dives into her personal life and helps us understand how her family dynamic and faith guided her into service in support of her country. It also takes us into the everyday lives of the search and rescue members and the physical and mental strain it places on them. Ashlee's story highlights service members' courage and dedication regardless of their backgrounds and the many forces of nature that affect their personal lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and genuinely appreciate how faith helped shape and strengthen Ashlee during times of uncertainty and extreme stress. I was so wrapped up in the story that I was saddened to see it end. I recommend this book to everyone. I know it will resonate with anyone who has ever faced any challenges and was able to navigate back through hope and sheer willpower.

More than just a Search and Rescue book.

This is a quick read by a female veteran who was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease. She doesn't dwell on the illness, but instead focuses on her career in the Coast Guard. She constantly praises her fellow aviators and first line workers and appreciates the health she once had. Her story is hers. It feels authentic and paints a great picture of search and rescue operations. The writing is simple and not weighed down by technical or military jargon.

Great story of a hero!

I really enjoyed this listening to Ashley read this. It's a great story of a strong women that has overcome a lot. Ashley does a great job narrating it too. I haven't listen to many books but I liked how she had some soft background music and some sound effects.

A true story of compassion

I listened to The Hurricane within in a day. The story of a young compassionate Coast Guard woman whose mission is to keep everyone safe. An emotional journey of a caring hero. Each day she showed up for duty to serve others regardless of her own needs. She is a fun loving happy go lucky type of girl that never meets a stranger.She loves her family and gets her strength from her Lord and Savior.
I personally met Ashlee, the author and narrator. Her positive energy and bright smile was immediately felt. I loved her story and highly recommend it, especially to those who care for others. Thank you Ashlee for sharing your story.
