The way you saw it!

The narration by the actual author is amazing, as she adds her voice and inflections to this story. I had not ever put myself in the shoes of a female trying to get in to aviation at the exact same time I was. It was hard for me but I never encountered the additional road blocks that women did universally during that time.
I started this book thinking that this was another girl that got things handed to her because she was a girl. Not true. This is a girl that was born to fly and had to slug it out against all odds, including her own parents’ dis approval of her passion for flight. My own perspective has been altered because of this work so well put together and vocally illustrated.

Recommended For Everyone!

I have read voraciously all of my life, I am 77, and this is one of the best books that I have ever read. I highly recommend the audible version read by the author.

Inspiring, relatable, with a touch of humor

The author will take you directly into her world from an aspiring pilot to a fully bloomed Captain. I loved the audiobook because I became more connected to her story hearing her tell it. I appreciate this read as a current airline pilot myself who deals with similar rewards and struggles. Although, one doesn’t need to be a pilot to appreciate the book. It’s relatable in multiple career and family areas.

Excellent Book.. couldn’t stop listening

If you’re even the slightest bit curious about a woman’s journey to the big leagues, Laura leaves no stone unturned from the beginning. She could write a few more even. I couldn’t wait to hear what was going to happen next. I’m not a literary genius but enjoy reading and when I can’t read I enjoy listening. I love that she did this book in her own voice so we see the authors experience. It’ll keep you on the edge, especially when she states school, or gets the jobs… oh you JUST HAVE to listen!! Loved it! ❤️

Absolutely Incredibly captivating must listen book!!

What an incredible story. There’s something for everyone in this book. From someone who’s never even thought of an airplane, aviation enthusiast, student pilot or pilot. It will draw you right in and you’ll be awed. Self narrated and Laura does an amazing job telling the story. It’s incredible. She has a way with words that describe every detail to make you really feel like your in the story and in the airplane with her. I listed to this twice in a row. When it was over it was so good I wanted more. What I loved so much about it was how she tells the story. I was so impressed with how it was written and narrated. Her story is incredible also. To make it through what she went through is far beyond my imagination. As a 41yo m I had no idea things were that bad for women in the workplace back in the 80s especially in aviation. The story will take you on an emotional roller coaster as you listen to her talk about her battles and successes. A must listen for anyone and everyone. I feel this book should be taught to kids in history class!!! You won’t be disappointed with this book!!

Loved every minute of it twice

This is a story that needed to be told and the storyteller does an amazing job. You will laugh, cry, and hold your breathe as you ride along with Captain Savino. It’s awesome!

Exceptional memoir

This was a wonderful memoir told by the author herself. Capt Savino takes you inside the airline industry from her start as a teen pilot through to a long career with a major airline. While she does talk about challenges that were specific to a female pilot in a field with less than 10% women, I found her story relatable and she didn’t dwell on the fact; most of her experiences were similar to what anyone would face in such a demanding profession. I primarily enjoyed the peek behind the cockpit door so to speak by someone who truly loved the job. This would be a great book for any young person about pursuing their passion.

I couldn't stop listening!

Ms. Savino did an amazing job narrating her own story. Her life so far has been chock full of adventure and she writes about it so well that you will feel like you were on the adventures with her.

You don't have to be a pilot to get totally caught up in the stories of the good and the bad times. Her story was told with grace and without arrogance.
