Publisher's Summary

Following in the tradition of Clive Cussler and Matthew Reilly, Andy McDermott takes us on a rollercoaster ride in search of the legendary Atlantis.

Archaeologist Nina Wilde believes she has found the location of the lost city of Atlantis, and now she wants the opportunity to prove her theory. Someone else though wants her dead!

With the help of ex-SAS bodyguard Eddie Chase and beautiful heiress Kari Frost, Nina faces a breakneck race against time around the world, pursued at every step by agents of the mysterious and murderous Brotherhood of Selasphoros. From the jungles of Brazil to the mountains of Tibet, from the streets of Manhattan to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, the hunt for Atlantis leads to a secret hidden for 11,000 years which in the wrong hands could destroy civilization as we know it....

Couldn’t finish this one.

After spending around an hour in one long and drawn out action sequence I decided this one would be relegated to my DNC list. It starts out fine and I wanted to see how things would shake out, but there has been no character development after 3 hours and I just don’t care about train chases, grenades and automatic weapons anymore. It seems like the characters and adventure part were afterthoughts of this action/adventure book. Think horrible 80s action movie novelization. Maybe this one gets better after the marathon bullets flying and grenades exploding part, but I won’t be around to find out.

This series is by far the best I have found when I started listening to this book I couldn't stop and so far every book has been the exact same way if they can follow the book closely this series would make excellent movies and I hope one day they will

Action packed and thrilling

Wow, the action started immediately, and didn't stop until the end. The storyline was exciting and thrilling. Spoilt a little bit by the narrator saying mischieviouss instead of mischievous, a huge pet hate of mine. please read the spelling of the word!

I will read more from this author.

Fantasy, a bit too Indian Jones for my taste.

It started as a decent, if far fetched, thriller. For me it descended into kiddie fantasy especially with the supposed 11 thousand tear old "temple of doom" tricks. I finished it but will not read any more in the series.

fantastically gripping

loved it start to finish, hoping there will be a second book. As the author left it wide open.

a bit too Hollywood

I enjoyed it though it was almost a Hollywood screenplay.
Mostly predictable with a few flaws that could have been followed up on.
certainly worth a listen the narrator has a good delivery.

The first of an ever expanding story series that grips you at every turn

Great and exciting book with just the right amount of humour and an excess of demolition Eddy chase and Nina wild must be the most unlucky pairing in written fiction history I was gripped from the start.

Reader is great, story is a bit dull

I thought it lacked imagination. Atlantis was barely described in the book despite visiting near three times. Characters seemed to be used as plot devices in some parts. I thought the Kari development and end didn’t really match up. There were plot holes everywhere. Chase and stockman - was kind of a massive let down. I actually found myself rooting a bit for the frost foundation as the whole holier than thou routine from the hero’s was a bit bloody dull. How many times does that routine need to be done? It basically ripped on Dan browns novel which was a superior text in that regard. Some of it was a bit cringe. The narrator was excellent. I pushed myself to listen to the end of the book but it was a real effort as the story seemed to drag and was predictable. I think the author gave it a really good shot though and wasn’t the worst - I did, after all, listen to the end.
