The highly anticipated follow-up to William R. Forstchen's New York Times best-sellers, One Second After and One Year After, The Final Day immerses listeners once more in the story of our nation's struggle to rebuild itself after an electromagnetic pulse wipes out all electricity and plunges the country into darkness, starvation, and terror.

After defeating the designs of the alleged federal government, John Matherson and his community have returned their attention to restoring the technologies and social order that existed prior to the EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) attack. Then the government announces that it is ceding large portions of the country to China and Mexico. The Constitution is no longer in effect, and what's left of the US Army has been deployed to suppress rebellion in the remaining states.

The man sent to confront John is General Bob Scales, John's old commanding officer and closest friend from prewar days. Will General Scales follow orders, or might he be the crucial turning point in the quest for an America that is again united? As the dubious Federal government increasingly curtails liberty and trades away sovereignty, it might just get exactly what it fears: revolution.

it was a good story to finish it. the main grip I have is that the narrator performance of this book was not as good as the last one. he did not use same voice for characters and sometime it was hard to discern who was talking bc characters sounded same. other than that I enjoyed to book. it shows the struggle of trying to be loyal to what seems as a legitimate govt and standing for the US Constitution. it shows the struggles good men have to go through to keep honor and integrity in a messed up situation. and though this story in the trilogy is over the author can always continue the story in this universe by going through how the USA goes to reclaim the rest of the USA from the foreign powers still occupying parts of it.

excellent book but narration needs work

I enjoyed listening to all three books. The story held my interest and I could hardly wait for this book to be released. You should make a movie from the three.

I sure hope there will be another one.

This collection is so real, raw and engaging. I listened to all 3 audio books...
I loved both narrators, but let's face it, Bronson Pinchots delivery of Dale Frederick's, is sooo soooo amazingly spot on. The crazy tension, hilarious conversations between Dale, a corrupt DC manboy were so enjoyable...

One of my favorite lines...
"Will that work for you John"

This series needs to hit the BIG SCREEN...Bronson cld play Dale, it'd BE EPIC!

I also really loved Forest, Mable, Hamid , Ernie and I really really loved Machela.... MOVE IT, MOVE IT.

I've listened to this series 4 times.
I'd say I'm a HUGE FAN!

I had 6 surgeries this past yr and a half, these books kept me entertained and in good spirits. Thank You Will.

A neat if occasionally cheesy story. I love the idea of just how someone would rebuild the world. I look forward to the next one it appears is in progress.

A very entertaining story
