Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts returns with the classic tales of the MacKade brothers - their rebellions, their passions, and their loves.

Shane MacKade enjoyed everything about women - the look of them, the smell of them, the taste of them. So the last thing he expected was to become a one-woman man. And even more surprising is that it's the Ph.D.-toting academic Rebecca McKnight who has him headed for a fall. Could Shane's days as a bachelor be coming to an end?

Not the best

I have enjoyed all the Mackade Brothers books and Luke Daniels narration except for the female lead in this one. She sound infantile. When he read Rebecca I was cringing as I listened. Love those sexy brothers though.

The narrator was too much!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story was good,as most of Nora Roberts are.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Shane himself. As with all the MacKade brothers...yummmm

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Luke Daniels?

Luke Daniels has a wonderful voice, but honestly he should never attempt women or children voices! Almost didn't get through the series because of him. Rebecca's voice was the absolute most ridiculous. For being a genius, and for being someone that might interest the suave Shane..she sounded like a little baby! It was difficult to get by.

Falling Can Be Good for You

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, it is a charming story well-performed with a nice romance and a bit of supernatural mystery.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the opposites attract relationship between Shane and Rebecca.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator has a nice voice with a good, fluid style and subtle but unmistakable differentiations between characters.

Do you think The Fall of Shane MacKade needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, it stands on its own. However it is part of the Brothers MacKade series so there are more chances to read about the characters of this novel.

The finale of an excellent series!

I enjoyed all four books ~ especially this one. The characters are wonderful and the common themes woven through the series all come together in this book which satisfied my desire to know what happened to each of the brothers, their families and the historical figures.

I COULDN'T FINISH THE BOOK

I GOT ABOUT 2 CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK AND COULDN'T TAKE ANYMORE. I'VE HEARD OTHER NARRATIONS BY LUKE DANIELS BUT HIS VERSION OF THE MAIN CHARACTER MADE HER SOUND LIKE A CARTOON CHARACTER WITH A REALLY WEIRD VOICE. IT WAS SO HARD TO CONCENTRATE ON THE STORY THAT I HAD TO GIVE UP. I HAD READ THIS BOOK YEARS AGO AND ENJOYED THE TYPICAL NORA ROBERTS FORMULA FOR STORIES BUT ABSOLUTELY HATED WHAT LUKE DID WITH THE FEMAIL VOICE.

Luke Daniels is AWESOME

Just like Nora's Chesapeake Bay series and the Boonsboro Inn series, the McKade brothers hit the mark!

Luke Daniels and MacLeod Andrews are Nora's best narrators.

Recommended

Excellent conclusion to an excellent series. Who would have known Shane was so closed off to the tramas' the land had suffered through time?

Oh no, the series ended; I am sad!

Way to go Nora. This book was one of frustration with Shane and Rebecca but as usual a happy ending. Was glad that the ghosts we're finally settled. Peace be with all of those lives lost in that nasty war.

A favourite of mine, ruined by time and the narrator

This is an old favourite of mine - the vest in the MacKade series in my opinion. Unfortunately the narrator as chosen a female voice so deeply annoying for the heroine I’m not sure how anyone can stand her. Also, now I’m older, I realise the ghost story is a romantic tale of one family’s passionate dedication to slavery - hmmmm
