The Player falls for the single mom!

After listening to The Assist (Smart Jocks, Book 1), I'll admit I was dying to listen to Zeke's story and The Fadeaway was just a stepping stone to get me there. I am usually not a fan of the hero being a manwhore, but Joel completely surprised me and I loved his and Katrina's (sorry, I just can't get behind calling her Kitty) story. We saw a new side of Joel in The Fadeaway and it was great, his sweetness and thoughtfulness was perfect for winning over the single mom. Katrina is pretty much a super hero in my eyes, she is a strong single mom that is following her dreams while also giving her son the life he deserves. I thought Katrina invited Joel into Christian's life rather fast, but after the first interaction there was no way you could keep him away... Joel and Christian were completely adorable together! I am loving the Smart Jocks series so far, normally the NA books I read are full of angst and while I do enjoy that, it is nice to read some that make me happy without having my heart twisted first. I cannot wait to finally learn more about Zeke!

As always, Teddy Hamilton did an amazing job narrating! His voice and attitude for Joel were spot on and his spanish was swoon worthy! Summer Morton did a great job voicing Katrina, and I look forward to hearing more books done by her!

I'm really, really liking this series. I love the guys and getting to know the real Joel. You don't have to have read Book 1: The Assist prior to reading The Fadeaway but if you do you'll recognize some scenes. Joel, the epitome of a play boy, falls hard. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Rebecca Jenshak knows how to draw readers in.

Being a fan of the Smart Jocks Series I couldn't wait to listen to all of the audiobooks! I really enjoyed this listen!


This was my first time listening to Summer Morton and I loved her narration as Katrina! Teddy Hamilton as Joel was so awesome!

Great sports romance with very likable people

This is a great sports romance. I didn't read the first book in the series but I had no trouble following along, even though the couple in the first book did make appearances in this book.

It's a good sign when I find myself smiling within the first few pages. It's obvious from the beginning that Joel is a definite playboy. He’s rich, privileged, and not used to failing with the ladies. But Katrina teaches him a lesson. And he comes back for more. He’s pretty hilarious, egotistical but kind of sweet. Katrina is a great character- loving, loyal and a great mother. It is so fun that the play she wrote is based on Coco, the Disney movie. The two together are wonderful and the relationship is especially compelling when Joel interacts with Christian, her son. It’s also a wonderfully believable story given that there’s a slow burn because Katrina is rightfully concerned about moving too fast. But Joel plays the friend/boyfriend part perfectly. He may fight being labeled as someone in a relationship but in action, he’s an awesome boyfriend. He has a reason for his hesitancy- a difficult romantic past. So he has to overcome his past to open his heart on the way to an HEA with Katrina.

I love Teddy Hamilton- he has the perfect voice to play the playboy type of character. Great modulation of his tone so he plays multiple people, even men in conversation, well. And his softer “female” voice is great. And the Spanish, oh the Spanish…hah

Summer is great too- perfect for Katrina and she plays different voices well too.

Fantastic 2nd Book!

I was super eager to read Joel’s story and it definitely met my expectations. Jenshak’s writing keeps you wanting more and both Narrators nailed it! It was an awesome build up and I’m excited to listen to another book from this series. I sure hope to see more from these group of friends and possibly more into their futures?!
