Publisher's Summary

Once upon a time…

A town will only suffer the presence of a witch for as long as she is useful. Aisling watches the flames lick her thighs and prays for a quick death. But when an Unseelie prince appears through the smoke, she does what any self respecting witch would do.

She curses him.

Bran should never have traveled to the human realm, and is shocked when a witch binds them together. His life is hers and he refuses to die. He saves her from the fires, casts a hex on the townsfolk for good measure, then whisks her away to safety. His only stipulation? She has to remove the binding curse.

Unfortunately for them both, she can’t. Witch and Unseelie must travel across the Otherworld to break the ties that bind them. Secrets and lies stand between them, but both will stop at nothing to save themselves.

The Faceless Woman by Emma Hamm

I haven't read anything like this! This fantasy romance is super amazing. I love how the story went even though the ending was bitter sweet but we all know what happened to the swan lake princess right? I did fell in love with the characters so much I wanted to learn witchcraft myself to lift their curse which of course is very impossible.(please excuse my day dreaming)

The narration by Siobhan Waring was also amazing!

The Faceless Woman

I know that when I read or listen to an Emma Hamm book, I must stay committed to sticking to the story or I will miss out on some beautiful story telling. To me, most of her books start out slow, and there are times when I think they drag, but I can also tell that she gradually builds a well-rounded story that will have you wanting more of her work.

The faceless woman is very interesting. I wonder what it would be like if people could not see our true face, but I digress. As I said, the story is interesting, and I believe your time won't be wasted listening to the audiobook. Siobhan is the kind of narrator who can take a mediocre book and enhance it with the voice magic she uses. Ok, maybe not voice magic, but excellent talent of giving each character his or her own uniqueness, and that is exactly what she did with The Faceless Woman. Her voice makes this story better. She makes you want to go on the journey and experience the adventures the characters go through.

Great First Swan Princess Experience

This was a fascinating listen. Loved the adventure and seeing the story unravel and what curses Aisling and Bran had. In all honesty, I've never heard the original Swan Princess so I have nothing to compare this retelling to. However, I really enjoyed this author's writing. Great Story!

I loved the slight British accent the narrator has/used. Really made this fantasy/fairytale/romance come to life. Very pleasant voice and excellent performance!

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Ok, I'm an Emma Hamm fan for life. Her stories are so original and new while still fulfilling all my desires for a fairy tale being retold in a fun way. I would highly recommend any of her work, and I love this narrator also! Siobhan has such a talent for expressing different characters thoughts and really making them believable. I truly loved this!

Not what I expected

So, I went into this book expecting it to be a continuation of the series, but instead it was a story in itself with a couple of overlapping characters. Once I got past trying to connect the main character back to the main character of the previous books I enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed it

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Although this is book 4 in the series, I felt this one stands on its own pretty well. I thought the characters were interesting and there was enough action and story to offset the romance aspects for me, which is important. The narration is done well. All in all, I thought this was a good listen.

Loved!

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

Every week I receive an email from Audiobook Boom. A few weeks ago, I decided to be daring. That means, I went and requested all of the listed books. I figured, I'm getting tired with my usual genres, so I wanted to try something different. Strangely, out of the close-to twenty books offered and submitted for, I only received a handful back. Needless to say, this was one of them.

So, looking at the cover, well...it was definitely eye-catching. It made me think of the movie "Pan's Labyrinth" and the one creepy, eye-less guy. Usually, book covers don't really catch my eye. I don't know, it seems like a lot of the nowadays are generic-looking, as though whoever designed them didn't really care to attract peoples' attention. That's just my two cents though.

Moving on, I'd never read or listened to anything by this author, prior to this book here. So this was the first book in this series that I started with. I have no clue what the other books are about and was a smidge worried that I wouldn't understand what was going on in this story, but nope... There was no problem there.

This was such an interesting listen-to, it was hard to put my phone (listening device) down when it was time for bed. The writer provided some great descriptions throughout the story that it was easy to see the movie in my head. Because of how awesome this story was, I'm very interested in going back and reading or listening to books 1-3.

The narrator has such an awesome voice! I loved it! It was calming and beautiful and different from the other narrators I've listened to. I can't imagine her ever narrating a book and it not sounded perfect.
