Publisher's summary

Discovering the truth about your past and your destiny can be more daunting than living in ignorance. Maybe that’s why people say ignorance is bliss....

This is something 20-year-old Tianna Collins quickly learns after she reunites with Niobe Freeman, after being in hiding for 14 years. Niobe holds the secrets to a past she cannot remember, and offers her the keys to a brighter future. When Tianna finally lives the life she had always dreamt of, the Gods who turned her world upside down discover that she’s still alive. Tianna discovers the dreadful truth about her parent’s deaths, and a prophecy that will determine the very fate of the planet.

Tianna’s only hope of survival and saving our world is to fulfill the inconceivable plan Niobe has set before her. The only problem is that she has just been shot in the stomach three times, and the man holding the gun is now standing directly above and aiming at her head. Bang!

Remarkably good

Promising writer, promising story. I liked the way the book builds up slowly at first wondering where it is leading . And quite a thrill ride it turns out to be. More please.

Impressive

Great narration with a remarkably mature story both in plot and in character development. I did not know what to expect from this one (another Hunger Games), but I was very pleasantly surprised. Very enjoyable.

Action-Packed, Epic Adventure

There is a world that we know nothing about, and it is about to come crashing in! Joseph Collins watches his world disintegrate when his wife and child are murdered. Tianna Collins saw her parents die at the hands of horrible creatures. Now after 14 years of hiding at a boarding school on Earth, she discovers she is not only being hunted but she discovers answers to secrets that challenge her existence. Now she must succeed at the Etlu Games or die trying because it is not only her life that depends on her success! This is not your typical fantasy or sci-fi book, it has gods, demon-like creatures, warriors, and more with a surprise revelation!

This is one of those books that not only holds your attention but keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The author, C.E. Allan, is very detailed and deliberate in world-building thus allowing the listener to follow along easily. He weaves a magical story with powerful messages. There are a couple of backstories that are present and are carefully woven into the main story.

Each character was fully developed with room for growth as the series moves forward. The plot was executed well, nothing was left to chance or left hanging. Again, it was Allan’s skillful storytelling that allowed the book to flow naturally.

The narrator, Emily Ellet, was very expressive and provided rich and unique voices for each character. She was able to keep the momentum of the story flowing and moving forward. She spoke clearly and with the perfect amount of expression.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was clear and well produced.

A good start for an aspiring author

First, to get it out of the way. I was given this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
For what appears to be C.E. Allan's first published novel, The Etlu Games shows real promise for future works. While, for me, the early chapters were difficult to get through, the story soon captured my attention and became a enjoyable story. The story holds to a vision and doesn't stray off into unnecessary tangents. It gets you through the narrative and sees you out the other side.
While it may not be as polished as it would be with an author with years of experience and multiple books under their belts, this is a good story and I hope to see more of Mr Allan's works as he becomes that author with the multiple books under his belt.
The narrator Emily Ellet is perfect for this story. She brings considerable talent and range to the story. Her voice goes a long way in breathing extra life to this tale.
