This book was ok, there is a good underlying storyline but it was hard to stay engaged.

Very imaginative!

First off I want to say I listened to this on audio and Sarah Sampino did an AMAZING job with this book. I have listened to her a lot and this is by far her best work. There are 9 or more characters with different accents and she really did a wonderful job with each of them! I could easily tell who was talking at any given time.

That being said I did struggle with this book for a bit. It was slow and boring. I am telling you this so you can hang in there and get to the good part. It does happen. Then this turned into an lively book. There were multiple characters to keep track of. They all had different abilities and the fun was trying to figure out what they were and how they use them. This also has a bit of a Love triangle going on. I enjoy the push and pull off of these two men.

This is my first book by this author and it engaged me after a point. The idea of the castle was so imaginative! Very Harry Potterish! By the end I am eagerly looking forward to more.

Impressive!

I was on edge thru this whole release waiting to see what happens next. It was well written. The characters were interesting and kept you captivated to the end.
My only complaint is that it had a cliffhanger. I was like, Oh no! Please at least have the next one available to continue. Will I get the next one? Yes, but if that one ends the same way.., I do want to know who she chooses. Tough decision,

A excellent start to a wonderful series

Absolutely engaging start to an adult urban fantasy series. I loved the characters and their unique stories. Sarah did a great job of bringing the series to life. I look forward to seeing where this story goes.

Not bad, looking forward to number two.

Sampino did a damn good job with the narration, only criticism/suggestion I'd have going forward is to try and cut out as much static, pips, and crackles that can happen rarely throughout. She is pretty amazing at individualizing characters and bringing them to life though fr.

I started out feeling in the dark a little, though it picked up quite quickly, and then slowed down some. The writing was definitely intuitive though and the characters felt real with their own three-dimensional personalities. I do hope book 2 fixes some of the very slow pacing that held back some of my enjoyment of the novel in the middle though by the end it picked up yet again which was great and I enjoyed the ending knowing that I'd be able to go right on to book 2.

All in all it's a good start to a series, an ongoing series. And I hope some of my criticisms were already taken care of in the next one, I'm going to start reading that one tomorrow. I was provided a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review, and it hasn't changed my opinion on the novel at all. The amount of content is worth the credit in my opinion.

Interesting book!

I loved this fantasy book for the way it took things from mythology and turned it into something modern. It was a fun twist. The story is action packed and full of tension, both personal and plot based. I highly recommend the book, but the narration and jarring noise between segments was enough to make finishing difficult.

A MUST HEAR

This is definitely my new favorite series! Hearing it on audible makes it even better! Get lost in this fantastic urban fantasy with characters you will fall in love with and love to hate! 5 stars all the way!!

Captivating

Such an intriguing story full of suspense and anticipation I listened to the whole thing in two days.

What are they? I was so confused at the beginning, but not in a bad way. I had so many questions. There is mystery, action, fighting, romance, magic (?)..... so much... so much, I don't want to give away details, but if your a fan of mythology, you may be a fan of this.
