Excellent story, great presenter, highly recommend

Love the book, story gets better and better as you get further in the book. one minor thing I don't like is when the author speaks about Melora biting her lip from the inside hard enough to taste blood, this same phrase gets used in this book more than 5 times to describe her biting her lip. could have used other ways to describe it. other than that I am enjoying this amazing book. I have the audiobook and bought the hardcover as well.

Intertwines mythology with modern day

A unique take on intertwining mythology with modern day, and a great option if you're looking for a stand alone story instead of a series.

- A strong independent woman protagonist who knows what she wants and what she has to do, even if it means facing her fear and having others disagree.

- Athena is written very well. I didn't feel like she was out of depth or "out of character" for the whole story. *Especially* that one particular twist (if you know, you know).

- While there is some romance it isn't a main factor. Important, yes, but not the leading lady's main motivation.

- I'm a huge mythology nerd, so I was able to connect and recognize references that were mentioned in the story, but I also feel like if you know next to nothing about Greek mythology you won't have too hard a time understanding the small snippets referenced. And even if you do, Google is your friend.

- No cliffhangers. All threads at the end were tied.

Interesting

Great story overall parts where a little confusing and hard to follow at times. The narrator was okay, she weirdly used the same voice for some characters and then tried diffrent accents for others.

Loved

This book was phenomenal! Had me completely hooked from page one. The narrator was also awesome, totally have a crush on her voice. I feel like it fit the main character perfectly. One of my favorite things about the book is thats its perfect as a stand alone novel. No forced cliff hangers for more books. it's super refreshing to read a book and have it be a master piece just within itself. Author has some major talent!

Greek mythology meets the Hunger Games!

Lore by Alexandra Bracken will be made into a movie, no questions asked. If the rights haven't been sold yet for it, they will be soon. This was one of the best YA books I've read in some time.

When I saw the first reviews for this book, the phrase "Greek mythology meets the Hunger Games" was always mentioned to describe it, and this is a dead on description. Zeus has cursed his pantheon of gods to become mortal for one week every 7 years, and any other mortal of one of the great bloodlines who could kill one of these gods while mortal can take their powers and asend to become gods themselves, but this is no easy task at all to accomplish.

The story the author weaves in this novel is a very good one, filled with all the action and young love stories we've come to expect from the YA category. I don't want to give away too much of the story as a spoiler, but this is setup to become a trilogy for sure, and I can't wait for the next book! A solid 5 out of 5 star read!!!

Amazing!!!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect but this book simply amazed me. Great story and the narrator did a great job telling it. All around one of my favorite books on this site.

Terrible Greek

The Greek pronunciation is terrible! Very disappointed more research didn’t go into how to pronounce the Greek words in this story. Shocked.

Disappointed

I love all her books and thought it a good bet for my credit. It's not bad but I'm a few hours in and I'm so lost. I can't even pick up enough of a storyline or sideline interesting enough to take notes and study. It may just be me but I figure if it's this hard to follow it could have gone through one more edit. I can image her explaining things to the editor which, I feel, if you have to explain things, it isn't ready for the public.

Amazing detail, very engaging. Narrator did an awesome job with characters. Not a traditional mythology tale. Loved it!

I really enjoyed this novel, the twist of mythology and the modern world had very interesting concepts.
