Anyone interested in the enneagram will find this book helpful and interesting. Well organized, thorough, information beyond the basics and written at a pace that holds the interest of the listener. This is a book worth reading.

Simplicity

Loved the simplicity of how it explained the Enneagram, prior to this book I was intimidated by it. Now I’m excited to do self reflection.

A book that helps me understand the enneagram

I have read several books on the enneagram. This one helped me understand it. It showed the 9 personality types are connected and although we have dominant traits ultimately it’s they enneagram as a whole that influence our lives in personal and spiritual ways.

Not a Christian Perspective.

I do not believe the title of this book is accurate because Richard Rohr is a heretic. Check out his book titled, “The Universal Christ,” if it’s not already obvious to you after reading this book. Even in this book, Rohr says, “John has Jesus say, ‘Your Father is the devil,’ which we know Jesus surely did not say.” Rohr openly admitted that he doesn’t even trust that the disciples account of Jesus is accurate. What, then, is Rohr basing his beliefs about Jesus on? It appears that Rohr has constructed a Jesus to suit his own desires, wishes and “needs.” Perhaps this is why Rohr believes in Universal Salvation. Rohr is a follower of Origen and has adopted many Gnostic beliefs, attempting to combine them with some Christian beliefs, just as Origen did (who was condemned as a heretic by the Counsel of Constantinople around 553 A.D.). Rohr is combining Hinduism, Gnosticism, Etc., with Christian terminology. If you dig beneath his facade, which is full of Bible verses out of context, and examine what he’s actually saying, what’s left is not a Christian perspective, but a perspective from an entirely different religion. He believes all religions lead to God. He is very open about that. Don’t assume this book is written from a Christian perspective, because it’s not. Read it if you want to, but be careful not to absorb it. I’d say, question everything he says like you would question spiritual advice from a nonbeliever. I’ve never read a more heretical book in my life than “The Universal Christ,” written by Richard Rohr. I want everyone to know, his “Christianity” isn’t Christian.
