Publisher's summary

When Ivy Rose returns to her hometown to oversee an estate sale, she soon discovers that her grandmother left behind more than trinkets and photo frames - she provided a path to the truth behind Ivy's adoption. Shocked, Ivy seeks clues to her past, but a key piece to the mystery is missing.

Twenty-four years earlier, Harvey James finds an abandoned newborn who gives him a sense of human connection for the first time in his life. His desire to care for the baby runs up against the stark fact that he is homeless. When he becomes entwined with two people seeking to help him find his way, Harvey knows he must keep the baby a secret or risk losing the only person he's ever loved.

In this dual-time story from debut novelist Amanda Cox, the truth - both the search for it and the desire to keep it from others - takes center stage as Ivy and Harvey grapple with love, loss, and letting go.

Fantastic realistic book

The book was one I didn’t want to put down. The characters were like next door neighbors with lives I related too. I am using this book for my book club this month.

Fantastic debut

This is a fantastic debut! I had heard so much about this book and finally got around to listening to the audiobook. This is a story every heart will embrace. It celebrates the power of the families we make. A young abandoned baby brings together an unlikely cast of characters. I absolutely fell in love with Ivy and Pearl, but Harvey most of all. While I loved Ivy's search for the truth about her birth, I found Harvey's story the most endearing. This is a powerful story of how many approach grief and loss differently. With Pearl's guidance, Harvey is able to move forward, opening his heart, learning to love and trust again. Can't wait to read more books by Ms. Cox.

A Beautiful Story-

Have you ever felt like you were on the edge of something good? A life wanted but too far out of reach? The edge of belonging…to a family…a community…a future that might mean something? The edge of a real relationship with the God you don’t think you are good enough for?

Oh, but then, He is gracious to give you something greater than good. A purpose; the beginning of a life…and you finally see that He orchestrated it all. Every bit of it, with you in mind.

This book is such a loving, breath of God story that brings hope to all of its characters and readers alike. Amanda Cox, continue to write stories like this…so we will not forget the love of God and that Jesus taught us to love Him and love others…with others being all that God puts in our path…because He created each of us with a purpose and a waiting story of redemption.

I read both the ebook and audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed Leah Horowitz’s interpretation of this story. Her diction, inflections and portrayal of characters, young and old, male and female, proved to capture the story and bring it to life.

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language.

Loved it!!

I couldn't put it down! Great book! There was a touch of romance, but it wasn't overpowering, which I liked. I also liked that strangers become family. Not because of marriage, but because of love and friendship.

Love this story

Although some details are a little too good to be true, overall the story is well written and kept by attention from beginning to end.

The art of story creates a way of communication from the heart to the brain. Amanda Cox is a writer who understands the power of the pen. Yes some may say this review is biased, I would say it is personal insight.
