Publisher's summary

Let me ask you a question: If someone is vying for your spot on a team and just so happens to injure you during practice, would you believe it was on purpose?

Word around campus is...it was no accident.

That injury has cost me everything - my starting position, my junior year, and the draft. Now, I’m a senior fresh off recovery, struggling to find my groove, until the day I run into a nervous, fidgety girl with freckles in the dining hall.

They call Milly Potter "The Baseball Whisperer", "The Diamond Wizard", and "The Epitome of All Knowledge". She believes in baseball. She breathes it. She’s the queen of an infamous dynasty, but no one actually knows who she really is, and she plans to keep it that way.

One mishap in the panini line, one miscommunication in the weight room, and many failed attempts at an apology equal up to one solid truth: Milly Potter never wants to speak to me again, no matter how good my forearms look.

Little do we both know, she’s about to become more than just my fairy ball mother.

Milly and Carson are perfect!

Excellent story and I really loved all of the characters.  This book had lots of humor, sexiness and emotion with a really good balance of each. The characters very likeable and I became very invested in their story. Towards the end, there is a gap where they are separated for a time which really ticked me off. That being said, I did enjoy the hell out of this book. I just didn't really understand Carson's separation. Also not happy that Milly forgave Carson so easily after so long.
Both Savannah Peachwood and Sebastian York were absolutely amazing in this book. Very good at differing their voices well for the different characters and really performed Milly and Carson perfectly.

Loved!!!!

I loved this story!! Oh my, these characters!

I adored Milly! From her quirkiness to her wittiness, and her brilliant brain and boldness. She was so much fun and such a delight. Carson is just fantastic. I loved his heart and how much he cared for Millie and really saw her for the gem she is. These two have such fantastic chemistry!!

I felt so much in this story, the butterflies in my stomach from all of Milly and Carson’s special interactions, the hurt, the pain. This story is so much fun! I laughed out loud, smiled, and rooted for these two fabulous characters. I loved this story so much!!! I am so excited for more of the team members stories as these guys all had me laughing and smiling.

Great narration of a Meghan Quinn sports romance

Love this latest from Megan Quinn. Sebastian York and Samantha Peachwood delivered great performances as Millie and Carson. Millie is a shy but sharp female lead, and she really makes her man work for it! Nearly broke my heart, but of course Meghan Quinn put it back together again beautifully.

Too much erotica

This Is a wonderful story. Wonderfully narrated. I am not against sex in any shape or form. But when it’s so prevalent, when a simple deep sexy kiss can convey just as much… I think that should be the way.

I was not prepared.

Y’all. I was not prepared for The Dugout. I went into this book looking for a cute romantic comedy… boy was I in for a rude awakening.

Yes, there is romance and there is a lot of comedy. Do not worry, if you were like me and looking for a romcom - this book is HI-LAR-I-OUS!! I woke my husband up several times laughing so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes.

Milly is so awkward and ridiculous that you cannot help but love her. And the way Carson is with her is so super swoony I did not know what to do with myself. He appreciates her awkwardness and does everything to make her feel uplifted rather than defeated. Did I mention how swoony Carson is! <3

However, even with all the outrageously amusing scenes in the book (and there are a lot), I am warning you… THIS BOOK IS GOING RIP YOUR HEART OUT! Your heart will be mended of course… BUT IT WILL BE TORN TO SHREADS FIRST!!!

I was not prepared you guys. Not prepared at all. Meghan Quinn threw is all into the book and did not hold back.

These narrators were ON POINT. But I mean, when is Sebastian York ever not on point? I believe Samantha Peachwood is new to me, but she does sound familiar. Either way, she nailed Milly’s character and had me both laughing and crying.

Tough one to review!

I liked this story a lot. It is about two college seniors. One a baseball player and the other a female baseball coach. Carson and Millie. I guess my issue is I thought that Sebastian York was too old sounding for a 22 y/o. Let me make myself clear: I LOVE Sebastian York. He is my favorite male narrator on Audible. I just feel that he was the wrong choice to narrate Carson. JMHO. Hence the 4 Star review.

Great audio!

I. DEVOURED. THIS. BOOK.

This one trumps The Lock Room for me, which is saying something because I LOVED TLR. This book had so much heart and soul; it was funny, swoony, smart, and sassy.

Milly was an amazing h. I loved how she started off all nervous, but by the end of the book she was a BAMF. I loved watching her growth and the journey toward her achieving her goals. I love that she didn’t let anything stand in her way, no matter what she was going through.

Carson was such an interesting and complex character to read. I loved him a lot, but his story was heartbreaking. I felt his loneliness and just wanted to reach through my kindle and give him a big fat hug.. and then shake him because he thought he was alone, when he was far from it. He’s such a beautiful soul.

The story itself was fantastic. Meghan Quinn’s writing gets better and more mature with every book she writes. I am truly enjoying the series. There is a common theme between the two books and I will say that I hope that every book doesn’t follow in the same path because I could see it becoming too predictable. However, for this book I truly did love it and I loved everything that came afterward.

The narration was perfect. Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood did such an amazing job as Milly and Carson. They really brought both characters to life and, as someone who the read the book first, it really added a whole new level of entertainment to it. I'll be doing a re-listen at some point in the near future.

100%, without a doubt, I would recommend this book. If you liked The Locker Room or any of the other books in this series you will LOVE this one!

L-O-V-E-D!!!!

My very first listen/read by Meghan Quinn and I was crying. Like legit ugly crying and I didn't even see it coming. Everything was rolling along perfectly and then bam, a twist of events. Its totally worth the listen. There was funny banter, some very fanning myself steaminess, lovable characters, and complete tear jerker moments. I didn't want to stop listening at all, I wanted to know how everything ended up so badly.

Carson is everything, just a complete dreamboat, even though sometimes I was completely frustrated with him. Milly is adorable and stunning, seriously, her personality is addicting. These two together are off the charts, just the perfect clash of chemistry in every way.

A definite must listen! The narrators are just phenomenal at bringing these characters to life!

Warning: If triggered by emotional death scenes..

Fun. Nice build up. But avoid if you have a hard time listening to emotional death scenes...

Meghan Quinn hits another one out of the ball park

For some reason when this book first came out, I didn’t join into the blog tour for it. So while home on quarantine, I ended up ordering my own paperback copy to read. Then a chance to listen to the audiobook came up, and it was right before my trip to Branson, so I signed up for that, and was able to listen to it on my drive down. But I brought my paperback with me, for when I wasn’t in the car and could read when I wasn’t listening. Either way, reading or listening, it was just as good as any other book in the series.

What I loved of course was visiting with characters that were from other books. Like Knox’s mom, or Mama G! And then all the boys we’ve met from the other books, especially my favorite Jason, and of course Millie’s brother Cory. But Millie was awesome. I mean, while I am in no way like her in her love and knowledge of all things having to do with baseball, so much of her behavior is me. Like when she compared herself to Baby in Dirty Dancing when she said “I carried a watermelon”, that is me. So many times I do that. Always when there are guys that are cute, or that I’m attracted to. But then, there was the cookie moment, oh my gosh! I was laughing so hard as I listened while I was driving. I’m sure anyone who was driving around me thought I was crazy.

Now, one thing that was different for me than with the other books in this series, the moment when the author usually takes and rips my heart out didn’t hit me quite as hard this time. It wasn’t as insurmountable for me for some reason. Not to say I didn’t have a few tears streaming down my face at times, but I wasn’t quite as devastated. And that’s not a bad thing really, because hey, how many times can Meghan Quinn rip my heart out and then me keep putting it back in at the end? Except, I’ll continue to let her do it, because I love her stories so much!

The narrators for this audiobook were good. Of course I always love Sebastian York, even if his voice is usually more of a serious, dark romance interest in my mind. And I hadn’t heard the other one before, or at least I don’t think I have? Samantha Peachwood, but she was good and fit perfectly for what I’d imagined Millie sounding like.
