Publisher's Summary

For a duchess with practical desires, falling in love is an inconceivable part of her plan....

As owner of the Elysium Club which caters to women’s fantasies, Aiden Trewlove is accustomed to introducing adventurous ladies to sin and vice. But he is uncharacteristically intrigued by the mysterious beauty who visits his club one night, yearning to indulge in the forbidden - with him. Drawn to her indomitable spirit, he breaks his rule of never becoming personally involved with his clientele and is determined to fully awaken her desires.

A recent widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing, has never known passion, not until Aiden’s slow, sensual seduction leads her on a journey of discovery and incredible pleasure. But her reasons for visiting the notorious club are not all that they seem.

As Selena’s motives become complicated by love, she finds herself with a most unexpected choice: forge ahead with a secret plan that could secure her future - or follow her heart which could prove ruinous.

I didn't want it to end!

Just when I think that this series has met its emotional depth or that I've met my favorite Trewlove sibling, Lorraine Heath manages to knock me on my butt in wonder and awe. Aiden and Selena's story kept me immersed from beginning to end and wanting more (in the best way possible). Their mutual devotion to their families, their strong (and well developed) personalities, and the palpable chemistry that morphed into something much more are all ingredients to a gripping book that stayed with me long after I finished. I also really loved the connection (and cameos) from the Scoundrel's of St. James series - it makes me hope that perhaps we'll see another spinoff after we get the last two Trewlove siblings' tales. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Duties be damned

Selena Sheffield had married the Duke of Lushing to help support her family. Lushing married her to beget an heir, again responsibility to his family. They cared for each other but never loved each other. After seven years of marriage, the Duke fell ill and died, without his heir. He was the last of his line and if Selena couldn’t show that she was carrying his child within a very short time everything would revert to the crown. She would only receive a small sum quarterly and a cottage in which to reside. For the sake of her sisters futures she must become pregnant quickly and she had chosen the sire, a well to do illegitimate son of an Earl named Aiden Trewlove. What she hadn’t planned on was caring so much about him.
Kate Reading offered an excellent narration that allowed me to envision the characters. I had read the book, but the audio added to my delight and enjoyment by giving voice to characters, giving me the freedom to simply listen. I had time to imagine the settings described by the author. I first fell in love with Aiden and Selena. As the tale played out, I became wrapped up in the storyline. By the end of the book, I knew I had to open the pages and fall into the rest of Lorraine Heath’s stories. And after devouring the books, I can once again listen to the tales come to life through Audible Books. Enjoy but know there is heat and spice in these tales.

A favorite duo - Lorraine & Kate

A fresh new story, not a fairy tale, but a feasible tale told with passion. I just re-listened to this book today. It was dark and rainy, a perfect day to snuggle up with a Lorraine & Kate. Excellent story, well read and totally worth a credit.

Another winner

I LOVED this story. It was so great to see Adien's heart begin to open and how great to see closure on the vile Earl! Kate Reading is one of the BEST narrators around. Go. Buy.

Well-written, well-developed characters

What a delightful listen this was. Lorraine Heath has the amazing ability to develop characters that one never forgets and her books are so good that the reader/listener becomes so involved that one feels like part of the family. This series is my favorite and this book is beautiful and powerful. A great audiobook requires a great narrator. Kate Reading is just that...she and her voice give the characters life. Good job KR. Fancy's story is next and I can't wait.

Had to stop listening

This series is okay, and I started out liking it sufficiently, but had to stop when the female character does something that is basically attempted rape. I found that scene very disturbing and it turned me off to listening to the rest of the story, especially the way the male lead handles it. Disappointed that any woman would write a book like this.

Fun and Emotional Romance

Taking on the injustices of the times, Heath has woven a beautiful story of redemption and fierce, abiding love. Reading’s narration matches the story’s emotional journey. This book production was beautifully done by both artists.

Lorraine Heath Makes Magic

I am a Lorraine Heath addict. I have loved each one of her Truelove stories, but this one has to be my favorite. I enjoyed the playful banter between the characters. I also enjoyed the narrative by Kate Reading!
