Publisher's Summary

Former congressman and current Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz explains how we ended up with a politicized federal bureaucracy that actively works to promote the Democratic Party's agenda and undermine Donald Trump.

The liberal media loves to characterize the Obama years as free of scandal. They pretend this is true because virtually every office in the executive branch worked to withhold evidence of wrongdoing, silence witness testimony, destroy federal records, classify embarrassing information, and retaliate against truth tellers. Yet these same tight-lipped lifers leaked like a sieve once President Trump was sworn in, freely promoting the illusion that everything he does is the new Watergate.

Sometimes, even conservatives portray the deep state as nothing more than dumb, inefficient bureaucracy. In fact, it’s the opposite; the deep state is intentional, unconstitutional, and organized.

In Deep State, Jason Chaffetz reveals an entrenched leadership within the civil service that resists exposure, accountability, and responsibility. At the highest levels, they fight back, outlast, and work the system for their own advantage. And they certainly don’t like disruptive forces such as Donald Trump.

As chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Chaffetz was the tip of the spear challenging the deep state and trying to hold them accountable. He and his colleagues took on the powerful forces at the IRS, the EPA, the DOJ, the Department of State, and more. The deeper he dove in, the more shocking he found the brazen approach by the power brokers.

The balance of power has shifted. The deep state has gotten used to operating anonymously and without consequence. This is a problem bigger than we can even imagine and getting worse. Unless we do something dramatic to wrest back control, we risk losing the ability to successfully challenge wrongdoing by the most powerful bureaucracy in the world.

In Deep State, Chaffetz highlights the deep state’s tactics, illuminates the problems, and offers a way to fight back and win. It is important to expose the stories, but if the American people are going to win, Congress is going to have to do things differently.

This audiobook helps the concerned citizen understand what must be done - so they can demand real change.

Excellent insight to the dirty dealings of the gov

Jason Chaffetz knows first hand about how the Deep State operates. He lays out how money is wasted by the various departments... billions per department, how cronizm is alive and well, and his own experience trying to find out what really happened with Benghazi. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in this book.

Worth the listen. Especially in these times.

Excellent analysis

This book is filled with practical examples of how the entrenched bureaucracy overrides the wishes of Congress and the people. The details cited are extensive. The greatest value of this book is that it goes further and offers specific and reasonable solutions to the problems. While the author is honest about his conservative point of view, the solutions he puts forth are not partisan. Anyone who believes in transparency in government will appreciate the ideas set foryh.

Not what I thought

For some this book may enlighten you about how the bureaucracy runs on its own and resists over site by elected officials. If you are looking for any real controversial new information regarding “secret or behind the scenes” government manipulation, this will disappoint. Sorry Jason, I like you and your politics but this book falls flat of introducing new or meaningful exposure of what most people think of “the deep state.”

Excellent and candid run through the evil deep state

I’m really glad Jason read the book made it much better in my opinion. His stories his words brings a unique and disturbing insight into the people and processes that daily fly under the radar from the American public. I highly recommend this book if you want to understand how corrupt our government has become.

MISS

As a conservative I was looking forward to this one.... but Chaffetz misses the mark both with his performance and also the narrative where it seems like he focuses on his own petty peeves instead of the big picture.
