But how do you find out when the time comes if you will be able to pull the trigger? I want to prepare you mentally and physically, and I want you to know all the laws that may affect you - along with making you a master of concealed carry where you are comfortable, confident, and will know when and how to use it if the time ever comes.

Story
The title of this audiobook, Can I See Your Hands, refers to one of the key outcomes of this audiobook - being able to tell whether or not people want to cause us harm. To put it very simply, if you can see someone's hands and they are not concealing them, holding a weapon or positioning to strike you, one's levels of trust and confidence can increase. This simple example can serve as a reminder to all of us in many of the complex moments we have to deal with, and difficult decisions we have to make, in everyday life.

These elements are: legal and ethical implications, violence dynamics, avoidance, counter-ambush, breaking the freeze, the fight itself, and the aftermath. Training that dismisses any of these areas leaves you vulnerable.

On its initial publication in 1998, John R. Lott's More Guns, Less Crime drew both lavish praise and heated criticism. More than a decade later, it continues to play a key role in ongoing arguments over gun-control laws: Despite all the attacks by gun-control advocates, no one has ever been able to refute Lott's simple, startling conclusion that more guns mean less crime.

Story
This illuminating study traces the transformation of the right to arms from its inception in English and colonial American law to today's impassioned gun-control debate. As historian and legal scholar Patrick J. Charles shows, what the right to arms means to Americans, as well as what it legally protects, has changed drastically since its first appearance in the 1689 Declaration of Rights. Armed in America explores how and why the right to arms transformed at different points in history. The right was initially meant to serve as a parliamentary right of resistance.

Regardless of how you view guns, I want you to listen to this book with an open mind. Just know that by learning about your rights under the US federal and your individual state law to carry a handgun and learning about how to carry it around with you will not make you a target nor will it put you in any more danger than what we all face in our daily life. But know that in the event if you find yourself in any situation, at least you have a tool that you can use to defend yourself.

Thank you for changing my training and thinking
This has helped me grasp (not understand) a new perspective! I try to be very open to ideas and training, which obviously coming from my background as a man, is hard to wear a woman’s perspective. The insight and stories combined with well timed humor and wit provide such value and context to what it takes to make the best decision on how to defend yourself! What tools, ethics, laws, and equipment you need to understand the move into the realm of training to competence and repeatable action. I thank my amazing instructor and friend Heather for this recommendation! Kathy thank you for your time and effort writing and Kristi for bringing it here!

Good overview for beginners
It is a very overview of the subject. Some sections are hard to follow because they refer to or just list websites. A PDF of the lists would be helpful.
