Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

The audiobook of The Colour of Magic is read by Colin Morgan (Merlin; Testament of Youth; Belfast). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'It was octarine, the colour of magic. It was alive and glowing and vibrant and it was the undisputed pigment of the imagination . . .'

Somewhere between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a magical world not totally unlike our own. Except for the fact that it travels through space on the shoulders of four giant elephants who in turn stand on the shell of an astronomically huge star turtle, of course.

Rincewind is the world's worst wizard who has just been handed a very important job: to look after the world's first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land. Unfortunately, their journey across the Disc includes facing robbers, monsters, mercenaries, and Death himself.

And the whole thing's just a game of the gods that might send them over the edge . . .

You can listen to the Discworld novels in any order, but The Colour of Magic is the first book in the Wizards series.

The Colour of Magic is the first book in the Discworld series and was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Some names are poorly pronounced, but overall a really fantastic audiobook. Having the full text unabridged really makes a difference.

Finally Unabridged!

I decided to take a chance on this book series after a recommendation from a friend. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every second of the adventure. The characters all have their own distinct voice and I'm not just talking about the narration, although that is also very good. Each character has their own motivation and purpose instead of a book where you could switch out any character in any scenario and get the same outcome. Colin Morgan's voice was wonderful to listen to. I didn't once feel like I was hearing an actor just read a bunch of lines All of the voice actors were invested in the story and their characters which made listening enjoyable for me while I diamond painted. I'm off to read the next book in the series. If you're wondering if you should start this series, DO IT!

A Wonderful Adventure

That was silly. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t believe it took me this long to give it a whirl.

Enjoyable

The story is extremely creative and very entertaining. Colin Morgan is a Master at performing the voices of the many characters. A very winning combination. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

So very entertaining!

An excellent new take on a brilliant series! Colin Morgan was a great narrator, and Bill Night’s deadpan inserts are hilarious. Peter Serafinowic’s Death is properly sepulchral.

Brilliantly Read!

I have read a lot of cherry Pratchett and this one was a little different. while there was still a lot of whimsy and wonderful one-liners there was a sense of horror and despair in this one. The narrator wasn't as good as some of the others who have done discworld books. It is still worth reading. It goes into some of the deeper aspects of what makes up the discworld.

A little different

I was made aware that this was not the best Discworld book, but I still felt the need to start at the beginning for the introduction to the world. I can't wait to get deeper into the series. It was clever and funny despite that and enjoyable. the performance was great, loved that Death got his own voice.

Enjoyable, performance is great
