Publisher's Summary

A handsome stranger. A simple proposition. What could possibly go wrong?

Wren Mallory is no stranger to failure. Reeling from the humiliation of a very public breakup, she has fled LA for the comfort of her East Coast hometown of Archer Cove. Here, she happily passes her days as the barista in her family's bakery and spends her nights writing her screenplay. She is slowly mastering the art of the latte and enjoying the quiet life.

Hollywood bad boy Jax Cosgrove has to fix his image if he's going to be considered for the role of a lifetime. When a good deed leads to a misunderstanding, he presents Wren with an opportunity: pretend to be his girlfriend for a while, and he'll help her to sell her screenplay.

It seems like a harmless prank, and one that could finally make her dreams come true. But Wren quickly learns that a fake romance with Jax threatens everything in her real life she's trying to protect: her quiet existence, her beloved bakery... and her heart.

Enjoyable

Cute story that has a few unexpected twists along the way to true love. The characters were interesting and at times quirky enough to keep things from becoming too predictable. It was a fun listen, and the narrator captured the nuances extremely well. From the attractive cover to the narration and the satisfying story, I totally enjoyed this. I was provided this audio book at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

I'd like my credit back

Let me start off by saying that I know writing a book is a really difficult thing to do and takes a lot of work. And I admire anyone that completes the task. However, the plot to this book was just not good. In general the storyline was just really underdeveloped as well as we're most of the characters. By the end of the book I didn't really care if she ended up with Jax because I didn't really know much about him and his character came off like a cocky jerk most of the time. The main character was very whiny and unrealistic, as was much of the book. The narrator was also just really annoying. The only reason I finished it was because I paid for my credit and hoped it would get better. This is my first and probably only review I'll do on a book because I don't want someone else to make the same mistake. Don't waste your credit.

Cute, I like it when it all just works out!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It was cute, I appreciate a sweet love story with out the ronchy love making. The main character sounds cute like a friend I would have, and her love interest is described well with, the want to see how things go possibly in a follow up book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Kinda thought I could go either way, really. But happy endings are what all women are after.

Loved it!

What made the experience of listening to The Coffee Girl the most enjoyable?

The narrator was fabulous. She brought the characters to life and was a pleasure to listen to.

Any additional comments?

The Coffee Girl was a cute story. This outstanding narration sold it! Occasionally, I got confused on which male character was talking, but I might not have been paying good enough attention. Otherwise, it was great.

Good read

The book was interesting enough and there were a few twists but nothing to get excited about. There was so much more that could have been done within the story line and the ending was a little abrupt. The narrator did and excellent job with the voices.

Cute story that I really enjoyed listening to!

Loved the book! Just a feel good love story without all the raunchy crap. :) Kind of had a hard time listening to the narrator, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Would you listen to The Coffee Girl again? Why?

*Please note I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
Yes I probably would as I felt that I missed a few things that I questioned later on in the book, I would also enjoy reading anything else that is published in this series as I would like to see how the friendships and relationships develop.

What other book might you compare The Coffee Girl to, and why?

This book is a cross between Debbie Macomber and Janet Evanovitch. Its a mix of heart-warming family and a love triangle that is just laugh out loud comical.

What does Hollis McCarthy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I have listened to other audio books narrated by Hollis and her voice is smooth and you can clearly differentiate between the different characters within the book just by the slight changes she makes to her vocal.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I would not say anything moved me in particular as I don't think it was that kind of book, but the bit I liked the most was when he picked up her bike and put it in the boot of his car, just a little thing but something that made me go Ahh!!

Any additional comments?

An enjoyable read and one that I would recommend, its an easy read/listen, not to complicated and leaves you wanting to find out just a little bit more about the characters in the book
