"Graeme Malcolm brings an English accent and a fine performance to this Danish mystery. People are dying, drained of their blood through tiny cuts. The victims' other commonality is Butterfly House, a facility for teens with mental health issues. Detective Jeppe Kørner is assigned to the case; his partner, Anette Werner, is at home with a new baby and is thoroughly bored. Slowly, she begins to inject herself into the proceedings. Malcolm's voice is naturally deep and rather smooth. His narrative tone often differs from his dialogue delivery. The former is more relaxed and rhythmic, which is especially appropriate when Engberg focuses on the domestic lives of her two protagonists and the backgrounds of the other characters in this compelling audiobook." Intriguing plot

Enjoyed listening to this book very much. I enjoyed her other book, The Tenant, too.

Lovely true crime thriller

Moves quite quickly, the narrator navigates the danish sensibilities deftly and the story featured a slew of likable characters

So good! Graeme Malcolm is perfect. I am going to go re- listen to The Tennant now.

Good story, terrible narrator

The reading of this novel was awful. The narrator was monotone, offered no transition from one chapter to the next and made it very difficult to follow the story. The story itself was pretty good which is the only reason why I endured the narration.

Great Pace from Start to Finish!

Great story and the pace was perfect as events unfolded. The twists are there but not so sharp that the reader rolls eyes when revealed. And the narrator does a fantastic job!

Very entertaining

I was looking for an enjoyable and engaging story and this did not disappoint! It took me a little while to figure out what was going on in the story but once I started tracking the characters I was hooked. Looking forward to more books from this author!

Definitely Held my Interest

I listened to this book after I first heard the Tenant by the same author. The one thing I’m disappointed in is the second book in the series (Blue Moon I believe is the name) has not been translated yet into English and so there were several gaps in the personal details that I feel like I missed in the story. I’m thankful that another reviewer provided this information, so at least I was prepared but I don’t understand why they would not have translated the series in order but this story still was very intriguing. The names are a little confusing for me, but I was able to follow the story and it kept me guessing until the end. I hope there will be more to come, as I am invested now in the main characters. I hope the next one will still include Ester!

Solid

Good solid crime story. The names are so unfamiliar it is hard for me to keep track of who is who but I got over that by the end. Will read more by this author.

I think the story drug on too long. I would get bored and turn the speed up to 1.5.

Pretty good

This was entertaining but not as good as the first. The narration was great. It’s another episode of Danish Law and Order.
