Publisher's summary

I never should have taken that loan but my aunt needed the meds and they were too expensive for me to afford by myself. Now I’ve been sold to slavery and the Nightfall Queen’s guards have found out I’m not entirely human.

I guess I’m lucky they didn’t kill me.

The next thing I know I’m transferred to the Elf King’s castle to find out that he has bought me. It will take me five years to pay off the debt but I get to be his personal assistant. Personal assistant to the king. That can’t be so bad, right?

Wrong. Oh how wrong I was.

His council has tasked me with finding him a wife before they will fund his war against the Nightfall Queen. That part should be easy, he’s rich, disgustingly handsome, and smart to boot. The problem? He’s rejecting every high born female I send his way.

The more time we spend together, the more we realize I’m not just some half elf. There is a deep power that runs through my veins, one that makes me a target. His solution?

Enter into a fake marriage with him so that he can get the council off his back and I can get some protection.

That’s a great idea, so long as I don’t fall in love with him.

Should be simple enough….

The Broken Elf King is book two of four in the Kings of Avalier series. It's a full-length standalone fantasy romance that focuses on the Elf King Raife Lightstone.

Fantastic

I absolutely adore this series, and this latest addition is a fantastic addition to my collection. I understand that every series must eventually come to an end, but I hope they continue introducing more captivating stories. This particular book offered a compelling narrative with a dynamic pace, although there were moments of both rapid and slow development. Nonetheless, I couldn't help but wish for a few more chapters to delve even deeper into the story.

Loved this story series.

This has been my favorite series to date. I love how all the women are first either enemies or lower cast then become friends then wives/lovers. This was the third in the series. Each story with an entirely different theme. The writing was great as was the narrative.
I am excited about # 4 on the series. Then plan on reading anything this author has written.
I listen to audio books pod casts daily. I am not kidding. This author is talented.

Kind of disappointed?

The story is really good. There is decent world building and interesting characters. I felt the feelings with the main character. What was disappointing was the single POV, rushed ending, and unexpected cliffhanger. The big action/ conflict was not resolved. The romance had some angst and unrequited love. And then boom: they both love each other and will live HEA? No discussion, no explanation or apologies?

I also feel misled by there being two narrators listed. I want to be clear that there is nothing wrong with the narration. The narration is really good. However, I thought the story would be dual POV. The male narrator read one short chapter at the very end.

It’s a decent 2 in the series

It’s a good read for the 2 in the series, good information and good story line.
But I will admit it wasn’t as good as the first, but I do like the female lead much more in this one than the 1st.

Give it a go! Can’t wait for the 3rd. It should be very good!!
