My kids loved this audibook

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I want to tell you that my kids loved this audiobook. They have read the bible story before and we have discussed the principles in it, but this book really takes their imagination to a place they love. I wish more kids had a chance to listen to it be strengthened by the story of faith and grit. Thank you for creating this book for children. I am looking forward to listening to more of this author.

Awesome kids book

Yet another awesome kids book, this is one that the kids also ask to listen to again and again. Narration is great and it will definitely be on repeat in the years to come I'm sure.

I received this audio book in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning of one of histories greatest leaders

This is the recounting, in a story form, of Biblical King David and how he rose to public notice by slaying the champion of his nation's enemy, Goliath.

It is a story that is entertaining for any listener of any age in my opinion, and this rendition is done well. The narration is nice and professionally delivered.

Retelling True to Bible Facts

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The first thing that strikes me when listening to The Boy and the Battle is the narrator's voice. I love it! It is a deep, expressive southern drawl. It only took a moment for my mind to get past the incongruence of a historic Hebrew account being told with a southern US intonation. Then I thought, isn’t that the beauty of bringing the gospel message to all people in their own language? This book does that in two ways for children of the south; the dialect will make them feel right at home, and the retelling is geared toward a child’s understanding.

The story is slotted for kids ages 5 to 7. In my experience, not all 5 to 7-year-olds will be able to understand this audiobook story, nor sit through the entire 25 minutes at one time. For those who find this difficult, parent (or adult) interaction with relevant questions if their attention should start to stray may be helpful.

At the other end of the spectrum, I can envision even 10 to 12-year-olds being engaged by this audiobook, and requesting to hear it again and again.

The second point I find significant is that the retelling remains true to the Biblical account of David and Goliath.
This will be especially important for Christians who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible.

The only advice I would offer the publisher is to improve the cover. The drawing is not the most professional, and not all of the text is readable.

I recommend this book for kids from 5 years old all the way up to 12 years old. I predict it will become a favored addition to their audio library.

Aww This Was So Cute

The Boy and the Battle was a nice listen for any family. This has good Christian values and I would love for my grandchildren to hear it. I remember growing up and on Sundays watching Davey and Goliath. This would be a good tool to use in Sunday school or Bible study. I think the age range could be expanded.

Great narration by Rod johnson. He had a deep voice with good inflections.

Inspiring biblical story for kids!

My eight year old daughter loved this story! It stays true to the biblical narrative and still has all the details nothing censored for children. My daughters favourite parts were that she said that she felt part of the battle and understood the characters like she knew them. Her only criticism was that the narrators voice for David sometimes was a little shrill.
