In a remote sea loch on the west coast of Scotland, a fisherman vanishes without trace. His remains are never found.

You make people disappear.

A young man jumps from a bridge in Glasgow and falls to his death in the water below. DS Max Craigie uncovers evidence that links both victims. But if he can’t find out what cost them their lives, it won’t be long before more bodies turn up at the morgue…

Soon cracks start to appear in the investigation, and Max’s past hurtles back to haunt him. When his loved ones are threatened, he faces a terrifying choice: let the only man he ever feared walk free, or watch his closest friend die…

The blood tide

I enjoyed this second in the series by Neil Lancaster. Excellent narration. As I learned with the first one I read, pay attention, if you get lost listen over again. I loved the ending. I reccomend this book and the one before "Dead Man's Grave".

Excellent

Book 2 in this series and I liked it much better than the first, which was still fabulous. I hope there are many books with this wonderful cast of characters and interesting stories.

Well done to Neil and Angus for a great audiobook.

I REALLY wanted to like this book!

It was ok, at best. I struggled to finish it, even with the narrator being one of my favorites. My second and last Neil Lancaster read.

a rip roaring yarn for the second book h

lots of character development on the reoccurring characters and some new characters are introduced lots of insight onto the politics of policing and at its heart just a really good story with lots of twists and turns Agnes King does another good narration and I look forward to the next book I would recommend listening to the first book in the series to get the backstory on a lot of things.

Great new Series

I have listened to both max craigie books by Neil Lancaster, And found them both to be extremely exciting, fast-paced police procedural thrillers set in Scotland. The writer shows good background in policing, uses interesting interplay of dynamics in the workforce.
The first book leads into the second(I hope there will be many more to follow)!
As usual Angus King’s narration is a beautiful bonus.
Max Craig is a great character, and I for one will read the next book in the series when it arrives in my audible library on September 8,22.

Ho-Hum

Really hoped this second book would’ve improved in writing after struggling through the first.
No such luck.
Whereas the first at least had a decent story at it’s base; this one was basically a lot of very dull filler. Definitely not worth the time, nor the $$.

Police Procedural BEST

I cannot get enough of Detective Max and his team. Neil Lancaster is at the level of Michael Connelly. If you want to be hooked to a book from start to finish this series is for you. Great storyline and memorable characters.

Angus King’s performance enhanced a somewhat interesting tale of police corruption

I loved the Burns’ quote and Max Craigie is a fabulous name for a Scottish policeman. I know there was a huge story to be told here but I found it too much procedural and not enough character development. Also, my stomach will turn for the rest of my life when I hear the word “peeler”. I guess I am just too squeamish for a story told in this much detail.

Great story

I loved the story overall but there were a couple of annoying things : Angus King’s scouse accent is sooo bad, also if Janey’s is from Edinburgh I am from Mars ! Also there was a bit where Max was referred to as Mac
And it’s not pronounced Noakia it’s Nawkia!!! Sometimes I think attention to detail is lacking
Oh yes and there is no newsagent outside Saughton jail either!

Outstanding

Even better than book 1, this is a real roller coaster ride with an absolutely fantastic ending. I can't wait for book 3.
If you've not read or listened to Dead Man's Grave yet, you should start there, otherwise leap right on this ride.

Just gets better

I’m a newcomer to Neil Lancaster, DS Craigie and Janie, but an avid fan of UK crime/thrillers, as Amazon can attest by my library. The Blood Tide had it all: strong, believable characters; brilliant and enthralling plot, contemporary subject matter and an unput-downable suspense that had me grateful for Sydney’s traffic.
