The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. The famed quarterback decided to bare all. And by all, I don't mean he told me any of his secrets. No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel just as I asked the first question. On camera.

The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby: screwing with me. When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me to wanting to screw me. But I don't date players. And it's not because I'm one of the few women working in the world of professional football. I'd date an athlete. It's the other kind of player I don't date. You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player. Every woman wanted to be the one to change him. But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for. Turned out I was that girl. Simple, right? Let's face it. It never is.

There's a story between once upon a time and happily ever after...and this one is ours.

Contains mature themes.

The description of the book covers the first few chapters. It made me think this was a cookie cutter story of the cocky bad boy chases the girl who won't drop to her knees at first meeting. Although this does happen it's just the shell of the story.

Brody is dealing with Willow a childhood to teenage lost love. Willow kept disappearing due to her drug abuse. After being gone for four years she reappears and wants Brody. Delilah is dealing with her own lost love. Her fiance Drew died 7 years ago in an accident and she's afraid of falling in love again, thinking she's betraying Drew. There's also Marlene, Willow's grandmother, whom Brody takes care of.

There's a lot fun sexual banter between Brody and Delilah. Brody is the typical male always throwing sexual innuendo's into the conversation. You can't help but like him. I also liked Indie, Delilah's friend. Indie just says it like it is.

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster of fun, lust, jealousy, loss of love, grief, and found love. It moves along nicely without a lot a internal angst.

Vi Keeland is fast becoming a favorite author. I have several of her books now and she makes sure she has the cream-of-the-crop performers for her books. Mackenzie Cartwright and Sean Crisden gave a fabulous performance.

Is it worth a credit....Yes, but I got it on sale for under $10. It was a steal of a buy but I would have used a credit. This is a book I will listen to over and over.

Oh..just an fyi....I did snip the cover and it's now my new phone screen saver, for now.

Vi Keeland has a way of writing that will completely ensnare you. Without knowing it, I got completely engrossed and rooted for the main characters. Along the way, there were some other people who came into play but being a true romantic at heart, I couldn't help but want Delilah and Brody to end up together.

The narrator did a great job truly "becoming" the main characters. This isn't my idea of a fairy tale story of love but it comes awfully close.... two thumbs up Vi!!!

A not so simple but sweet story of enduring love

I loved this book. I wasn't impressed with Sean narration as his female voice is awful and it didn't fit what I thought would have been Brody's voice. MacKenzie was great had great speed and variations in her voice.

The story was great it made me laugh and I could feel the love, pain and loss which made me cry and actually eat ice cream as my heart broke following the story.

Great Book

My measure of a good book is if it makes you laugh and cry. The Baller made me do both.
It dealt with several issues that our society deals with on a daily basis too. From the elderly not having "family" to take care of them, to Alzheimer's disease, to drug abuse among teens and middle aged women, to the homeless shelters and women working in the male dominated field of American football and even having an advance directive in your will.
You probably just thought it was about the hot sex. There's some of that as well.
Vi Keeland is an excellent writer. Both narrators did outstanding jobs as they read the complex characters that make up this book.
I only got antsy when reading Willow's parts. I wanted Brody to end up with Delilah.

Great read with touching moments

I cannot tell you how many times I've passed this book up, something told me to listen to it this week and I am so glad that I did. I absolutely loved this story, enjoyed the humor between the main characters and the narration. My take away from this is you have to release yourself from your past in order to see your future, in order to allow yourself to feel like you deserve better, fall in love etc., I can easily see myself listening to this one again.

Pleasantly Surprised

I enjoyed the storyline and the romance, I always appreciate an alpha male. Only thing I would change would be the female narrators speed, she was a little slow paced in my opinion.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Loved the sense of humor in the narrators. Enjoyed the sexy drawl of 'Brody's' voice. The ending was an unexpected twist but I still enjoyed every bit and will listen to The Baller again.

Love it and will listen again

This story just like all of Vi’s books I fall in love with the characters. This book had me in tears when I thought that Easton was not going to choose Daliah. I love the ending.

Always wins my heart!

Mackenzie Cartwright did an amazing job narrating her portions of the book, thankfully they were more than Sean Criden's sections. His narration had a whiny tone, especially for women that was annoying to listen to.

Good and Terrible Narration

I really really enjoyed the story. I only gave 4 stars for performance as the man’s voice doesn’t fit the character. Hard to imagine Brody with we what sounds like a lisp where the “s” seems overly done. Sounds too old also. Although the acting was just fine. It’s just the voice doesn’t match.

Great story
