Publisher's summary

An instant New York Times bestseller!

Return to the house on Tradd Street one last time in this hauntingly spectacular finale to the bestselling series featuring psychic medium Melanie Trenholm.

After the devastating events of the past few months, the last thing Melanie Trenholm wants is to think about the future. Why, when her husband, Jack, has asked for a separation—a separation that might have been her fault? Nevertheless, with twin toddlers, a stepdaughter leaving for college soon, a real estate career to resume and a historic home that is still being restored, Melanie doesn’t have much time to wonder where it all went wrong—but that doesn’t stop her from trying to win her husband back.

Their relationship issues are pushed aside, however, when longtime nemesis, Marc Longo, comes to them with a proposition: allow their Tradd Street house to be used as the filming location for the movie adaptation of Marc’s bestselling book, and he will help Jack re-establish his stalled writing career. Despite Melanie’s hesitation, Jack jumps at the chance. But Melanie’s doubts soon prove to be well founded when she uncovers ulterior reasons for Marc wanting to be back in their house—reasons that include a hidden gem so brilliant that legend links it to the most infamous jewel of all, the Hope Diamond.

But Melanie has an unexpected ally in protecting the house and its inhabitants—the ghost of a Civil War era girl warns her of increasing threats to her family. But she’s not the only spirit who is haunting Melanie. A malevolent ghost seems determined to stop Melanie from investigating the decades-old murder of a friend’s sister, and this spirit will stop at nothing to protect its secrets—even from beyond the grave.

Melanie and Jack must work together to find the answers before evil spirits of past and present destroy everything they love.

Nice finish

Though this was VERY obviously predictable, it was nice to visit Tradd St. once again to see this series to its conclusion. There were some elements of this book that I thought were very long winded & drawn out, but otherwise knowing that it was Melanie, Jack & the rest of the gangs last hoorah (as main characters) I thoroughly enjoyed the listen. 😊

Fun

Loved all three of these books. Main character is very southern and fun. The mystery in each story is a “who done it”. Worth reading all three.

Wow

As sad as I am to see this series end, I am so excited for the next series; of which I’ve already read. I’m just as happy that the same narrator was kept through the series and am happy to see Sophie Amoss in the next. Hopefully, Ms. White will see that this series needs an update every now and then.

Wonderful ending to a great series!

I do not often read books about ghosts, etc. but I got caught up in this series because it took place in Charleston. As the last book in this series, I thought the ending was great. I am looking forward to the next series, as I am a great fan of New Orleans history. I would definitely recommend this series.

Peek

I have been in that state since the end of the last book when Jack did his "go to hell" and I needed to see if someone would knock him upside the head. From the beginning he has taken control, done his own thing and shared only part of it. Then when Melanie does it herself, he has a fit? I have always only had one problem with their relationship and that is the equality and disregard of everyone trying to change Melanie. He doesn't get it, but pushes her for his own gain. She is doing all the work. Forced to take responsibility for her Dad, a dog and old house, then making things work with her just out of the blue again Mother, then Jack and his new teenager Nola and finally her just found yet extremely annoying cousin. All while reparing a historical house, dealing the ghosts and solving mysteries for a lot of people. Did she get a lot out of it in the end, yes. Because she worked hard for it and deserved it and more. Did she deserve the attitude Jack gave her, No! The pain that man put her through for his own ego and she had to keep up appearances for at least her kids sake. I wanted to yell at Jack to grow up. What is it with men and their ego's that make women responsible for any slight put on it? In my experience it is way too accurate and I got tired of his issues early on. I wanted her to tell him off so many times. Why didn't Karen give her a bit more backbone? She was way too nice! Annoyingly polite and too much of a people pleaser. A pushover. A person way too easy to take advantage of. It may be a southern thing, but I got tired of it quickly. Other then that I like the plot and the narrator. Although I noted she did change up Jack's mom's voice from one book to another, but I believe it was because it sounded too much like Melanie's mom when she came back. Other than that I enjoyed her work. I wish we had seen Mark's reaction too. We waited so long and it felt like it fell flat without something bigger. *sigh* Hopefully something big will happen with the Shop on Royal Street and we can have some satisfaction from it all in the future. That and Nola learns from Melanie mistakes and doesn't let Mr Beau Ryan run all over her too. She has more Spunk and the younger attitude with less of the people pleasing. I just hope she smarten's up. Just not as foolish with her choices and grows strong and wise from her experiences. I can't wait to see what she gets up to.

Last book

I just finished this last book in the Tradd Street series and it was wonderful. I was sad the whole time though knowing this was the last time I would see Melanie and Jack. I have genuinely loved this whole series and The House on Tradd Street is what started my love of Karen White books. I am so sorry to see this series end.
