Story
There are no happily ever afters in the new Undead World. There are no vacations or time-outs or do-overs. There's only the endless daily grind of living or the shockingly horrific fact of death that hangs over every living creature left on the face of the earth. For some, that death lies in a single mistake or a moment of bad luck, or simply in fate. For others, that hard death hounds them day and night, relentlessly.

Story
The world is suddenly thrown into chaos as a research project is sabotaged and the dead come alive to feast on the living - it seems like an old story, doesn’t it? The Apocalypse Crusade is not that book. You are not suddenly thrust into a world gone mad. Instead, you get front-row seats to how the sh-t went down. In real time you are witness to the agony and the horror…and the terrible stupidity that made it all possible.

Story
It’s been 12 years since the undead hordes swept over the earth, forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day. There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry, and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name. Still, we survive. But for how much longer?

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. It's a generation that's never had a full belly. It's a generation that has no idea what an Xbox did, or what algebra is for. It's a generation of children who never laugh out loud, and who have learned to cry softly because the dead are always near and the dead are always so very, very hungry.

In the beginning, there were sleepovers and best friends and pizza on Fridays. Then the monsters came. First it’s the human monsters, raping, murdering, and stealing everything they can get their hands on. Then, come the real monsters, and survival is no longer a matter of luck. To survive the dead, a little girl has to become something else. She has to become more than human while at the same time, sink into depravity that’s beyond the bounds of society.

With zombie hordes swallowing the earth, mankind had no choice except to launch every nuke on the planet to stop them. Now, 150 years later, we live in over-crowded polluted cities, surrounded by vast radioactive wastelands. And no, we did not get all the zombies. They live among us, sometimes hiding in plain sight. Although the tattoos and piercings help them blend in, and the drugs help to contain their rage, they can never fully control their hunger. It’s endless.

Publisher's Summary
This is not an uplifting tale of heroes and heroines; get that out of your head now. This is a tale of survival. It's a tale of dried blood beneath your nails, of new pain, of gnawing hunger and unrelenting loneliness, of fear and hatred, and yes, of courage.
In The Apocalypse, the great majority of the men and women who fought with honor - with a sense of duty and loyalty - gave their lives for others, leaving those without honor to flourish and rule. Their rule is not marked by decency or civility, but by wicked brutality. Yet, in some very rare cases, the kind and the noble survived. These hardened survivors learned to live among the undead, but now they must learn how to stay alive among creatures that are far more monstrous: their fellow man.

LOW RENT FANCY
WARM BEER IS BETTER THAN NO BEER
This is an Apocalypse as it should be done. You don't have to read book one to enjoy this, but both are good. While Meredith may not be a classic writer he is someone you can relate to. This is no dumb run around killing Zombies book. You will be able to relate to the main characters. They think and act like you would. There is actually very little Zombie action in this book, something I criticize about other authors. This is all about the ppl in a Zombie Apocalypse. A six year old girl, is one of the main characters, and I believe the best part of the book. She is kind of a mystery, that does not really get answered.
I have already bought book 3.

Well written a good continuation
The narrator did a great job with different voices for each character to help get the idea of who was talking at the moment.
This book was a good continuation from the first. It had been a few months since I had listened to the first book and a flash back in the beginning would have helped get me up to speed quicker so I would have enjoyed the first part of the book instead of trying to figure out what was going on and who was who.
As it is it really feels like you are just bouncing around for the first quarter of the book for no reason.
There are a number of places where the plot just seems to jump then get partly filled in with the back story from some other character. This still leaves some scenes stretched for continuity and a number of brushed over holes.
Over all it is a good action packed zombie story that doesn’t isn’t full of a lot of gore. There are a number of touching scenes to help you relate to the characters and pull you into the story.
I would recommend it but also recommend listening to it right after the first book because it is a continuation of what seems to be the next week.

stupid stereotypes and awful dialog
first book had few good parts, but the dialog is at the 4th grade level
book 2 is far worse, jillybean and a talking zebra doll...really. even lost interest in what happens to Ram. and the stereotypes are off the chart...Every ethnic group is out to kill the other...with no exceptions. dumb.
I'd pass on this series...

Great second book!
I really liked book one and dived into this straight away, well I'm glad to say that it was even better than the first!
There are a lot of different characters, and while all are well written and developed, my favourite by far is Jillybean. She absolutely rocks for a little girl!!! So brave and smart and along with her Zebra, Ipes, she was fantastic.
So much happens in this that it's a story that needs to be savoured. Each of the original characters have their own tough time, but add in some new ones and you get a fast paced and gripping tale. Poor Ram!!! My poor heart, and poor Jillybean! She just wants a family!!
This grabbed me right from the start and didn't let go! I listened to it within 2 days and had a hard time taking out my headphones as the action was non stop! I needed to see what happened next. It's a thrill a minute!!!
I'm so glad I have the 3rd to jump into straight away because these books are addictive!!
Basil Sands, once again, was amazing. For the amount of characters that are in the book, and the fact that non of them were mixed up, shows what a great narrator he is. He gave each character their own voice!

Stereo types have way too much volume
The warning at the beginning of the first book sets the tone, but but the lack of counter balancing characters make Peter seem a bit sheltered when it comes to overall culture. Like someone pulling characters out of the 80s TV shows.

What Happened P. Meredith?
No, no, no.... You can't do that and consider it good writing.
This book starts out with the best writing yet in the series. The author introduces a new character that is well conceived and presented: interesting, sympathetic, exciting, and not the flat stereotypes drawn in novel 1.
The storyline is engaging, new groups enter the picture, and the book shows great promise. And THEN... What happened Peter!?
Did your editor call and remind you of the impending deadline?
The style of writing changes as the plot lunges forward into a really improbable and disappointing plot problem.
It's difficult to describe without spoilers. Let's just say, would Spartacus be a good movie if, in the midst of the glorious battle for freedom, he decided to ride into Rome for a cheeseburger, and said, "Hey while I'm here, I think I'll just nail myself up on this cross for you!!"? If the analogy fails readers, forgive me. But know that toward the end P. Meredith hinged this really promising book on a ridiculous premise.
I'm off to listen to the next book. Still hopeful!

Great follow up!
Survivors is an excellent follow up from the first novel, the twists and turns are excellent as they plunge further into the undead world.

Story
With people fleeing the valley in droves and Estes no longer the safe haven it had once been, Neil Martin must make some hard choices. His group has dwindled to 70 homeless refugees who have very little left to survive on. They desperately need to find a place to call home before their many enemies realize how defenseless they truly are. Instead of risking everything on a blind thrust across the Rockies to the Pacific, Neil sends out three picked teams to not only find a safe passage through the mountains but to also find a community that will take them in.

Story
The people of the Estes Valley have found their peace destroyed as they are attacked by the single greatest army left in the world. Not only do they have to contend with an army of men equipped with the latest hi-tech military gear, they also have to battle a horde of undead half a million strong. But, perhaps worse than all of this, they have to deal with a seven year old girl - Jillybean. Cruelly coerced into helping her enemies, Jillybean bends her mind to the destruction of the valley, the death of kings, and the loss of her own soul.
