Thrilling!

My oh my. I love this series more than I can express. Such vivid pictures painted in your head, hysterical humor and awesome adventures. A good read for sure.

As brilliantly warm, loyal and funny as a Mudwing’s Blood Red Egg hatched on Brightest Night

My first introduction to this author was via the Spirit Animals books. Her book (#5) stood out amongst many fun writers because of the distinctly subtle humor and multilayered storytelling. Then I followed her to the Menagerie trilogy where she makes dragon humor an art form. I laughed out loud so many times from the backwards dragon speak statements in that book.
The Wings of Fire 1 book does not disappoint as the author crafts teens search for meaning of one’s individual self within a group, alone and out in the dragon world under an oppressively vague edict to save the dragon world. I’m terribly grateful for the author’s heartfelt self introduction at the end.
To surmise, she’s brilliant and well read…her dragon books give all of us parents a mythical happy, fiery place when transport children in the car for hours.

The performer is sublime. Each dragon has a different cadence and tone. Two characters have subtle fluency differences. Bravo, McManus!

This book is so amazing! The voices are great and I love the other books too. I recommend listening to the others!

Thrilling

I'm a twelve year old girl and I love this series! It has taken over my life. My friends think I have lost my mind since I totally freaked out in the library about how Ex-Queen Scarlet was totally the wrong color in the graphic novel and I swear I have been raging about it ever since. A boy at school was taunting me about it and I screamed "I am going to kill you!" and some other mindless threats, maybe about bullet ants like in the third group (well I mean, I was kidding. he knows me too well to not know that. LOL). My friends picked my up and dragged me over to the breezeway and threatened to throw me in the trash can until I calmed down. It was hilarious! But really, I have read every book in this series and they have taken over my life. I make Wings of Fire trading cards with my friends. Peril is on my wallpaper on my computer. I sing the Dragonet Song all the time to annoy my friends. I recite all the prophecies under my breath, from the Dragonet Prophecy to the Lost Continent Prophecy. I even drew Kinkajou on my math homework! I thought my teacher would be mad but she loved it. I laugh when Peril says something funny or when Queen Glory says something sarcastic. My heart pounds during all the suspenseful parts and the sad parts, like when Clay lay dying, telling Sunny that he would die over and over to save her and their friends, or when Sunny told Starflight that she could never love him like Fatespeaker did, and when Starflight laid next to Fatespeaker, thinking it was Sunny but hearing Fatespeaker's voice instead. My favorite character is Peril. She is so misundersood. I love how she talks and thinks, and I love how she and Clay are perfect together and she saved me a heart attack in the Brightest Night when she saved Clay's life after he got bitten by the deadly snake. My favorite part ( and my BFF's favorite part) was that hilarious part in Escaping Peril when Scarlet, Peril and Chameleon were all in the SkyWing Wingery and all the little dragonets were saying all these funny things about Scarlet's face, and like, oh my gosh, I could just imagine the look on Scarlet's "remnants of a face" (see The Hidden Kingdom). I love how Tui T. Sutherland can emphasize the different mindsets and personalities of all these incredible dragons, from sweet, goofy Clay to feisty Tsunami to sarcastic Queen Glory to worrying, bookish Starflight to sweet, courageous Sunny. From Moonwatcher to Sundew, she can do them all. I do have to say that the first group is my favorite. It seems the most like one continuous and suspenseful and emotional story than the second group (what happens to Starflight was so sad!). I know there have been other reviews complaining about the narrator and the voices she does, but I actually love it. She might be the best narrator, alongside Jack Black (Minecraft: The Island) and Macleod Andrews (The Warrior Cats). I love the different voices, from happy Sunny to vicious Scarlet (and I have to say, Scarlet would be much lower on my favorite villain list of it weren't for Shannon McMannus. "Excuse me?! Who is the one who got attacked by her own artwork? Who is the one who got blackmailed by her champion, mid-rescue?.... No, you don't count. You're weird." (see Winter Turning) I even love how she does the voices of the baby dragons, like Auklet and Bumblebee. (Bumblebee is adorable! "Smeebo! Smeebo! Yim yim yim! Ooh, Snoodoo! Eeenow! Eenow! Snoodoo, I sae da day!" (see The Hive Queen and The Poison Jungle). These audio books are calming, too. I either stay up until midnight listening to them or fall asleep halfway through the book. I have gotten so used to hearing these amazing dragons that I hear the Dragonet Prophecy in my head, for some strange reason. I legitimately memorized every prophecy and I can type them all out here, but I'm guessing no one wants to read all that. I typed them out once and emailed them to my BFF and she said she didn't even bother reading it. Yeah, I don't blame her. I can be really annoying when I want to be. But enough of my rambling! Go listen to the thrilling tale of the Dragonets of Destiny!
(And P.S., Thanks to Shannon McMannus, thrilling is my new favorite word. I mean, I really want at T-shirt that says "#thrilling". (And sorry if I spoiled anything for anyone new to Phyrria.)

Great book

Best book on earth except Harry Potter but still great . I just need five more words

It’s exiting! A coming of age adventure book

I loved the dragons personality, and admired there loyalty towards each other. It started out slow, but progresed quickly...it’s a great book and I suggest the book to JR high level, for there are a couple parts of extreme aggression and gore talk. There is also talk of war...but besides that, it’s a book of adventure and friendship...it’s a great read!

this book is great and if you like dragons than this is probably the best book about dragons. wings of fire is the Dragon book i have ever read or listened to!!

Surprisingly fun read

First turned out to be a lot more enjoyable then I first expected given that this series is targeted at a younger audience. So it's kinda predictable at times. But the bestest gripe i have is the names of the characters being to unoriginal

Amazing I love wings of fire and I work on the road a lot so it was fun to listen to it!
