Victory is not always what it seems.
Keladry of Mindelan has finally achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a knight—but it’s not quite what she imagined. In the midst of a brutal war, Kel has been assigned to oversee a refugee camp. She’s sure it’s because Lord Wyldon still doesn’t see her as equal to the men. Nevertheless, she’s learning the importance of caring for people who have been robbed of their homes, wealth, and self-respect. Perhaps this battle is as important as the war with Scanra? When Kel has a vision of the man behind the horrific killing devices that her friends are fighting without her, will she honor her sworn duty . . . or embark on a quest that could turn the tide of the war?
More timely than ever, the Protector of the Small series is Anti-Bullying 101 while also touching on issues of bravery, friendship, and dealing humanely with refugees against a backdrop of an action-packed fantasy adventure.
"Tamora Pierce's books shaped me not only as a young writer but also as a young woman. She is a pillar, an icon, and an inspiration. Cracking open one of her marvelous novels always feels like coming home."
—SARAH J. MAAS, #1 New York Times bestselling author
"Tamora Pierce didn't just blaze a trail. Her heroines cut a swath through the fantasy world with wit, strength, and savvy. Her stories still lead the vanguard today. Pierce is the real lioness, and we're all just running to keep pace."

Would you consider the audio edition of Lady Knight to be better than the print version?
My father gave me the first of the "Protector of the Small" series when I was in 3rd grade and getting bullied. Twelve years later, it is a series that I returned to fondly. These are children's books, but well written ones that speak of morality and justice. Kel is a great protagonist, and this would be an excellent series for any feisty ten year olds to start reading or listening to.What do you think the narrator could have done better?
That being said, I don't like the narrator much. Her voice for Kel, an eighteen year old knight, is infantile. Dunne's narration doesn't sound natural - she emphasizes odd sentences and her voice isn't as elegant as some of the other narrators I've heard on Audible. That being said, her narration isn't a hindrance, it's just not my first choice.
Great Book, Not-So-Great Narrator

Where does Lady Knight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Compared to Outlander, it is mediocre. However, I really like Tamora Pierce. She brings me back into my childhood. Additionally, I love the message she brings that everyone should be accepted as who they are and that girls can kick ass.Would you recommend Lady Knight to your friends? Why or why not?
If they just want a good fantasy story I would recommend this book. If they are really into highly descriptive and high vocabulary novels I would not recommend this book.Excellent childrens book, tireing for adults
