This provocative first novel by a clinical psychologist specializing in children’s issues forces listeners to confront the cracks in the judicial and mental health systems. AIan King - often seeming to tremble with rage, or fear, or both together - gives voice to the troubling reminiscence of Josh, who lost his father at age nine due to his grandmother’s false charge of pedophilia, which would lead to his actual rape by a therapist. Inspired by true events, Josh’s is a story of troubling familial and institutional dysfunction, and, against all odds, the recovery of a lost soul.
This heart breaker is well worth anyone's time. While I could have wished the man character were a little older so the author could have probed some things a little deeper this story is one of my favorite kinds.
