Story
When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international best-selling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back. Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee - smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot. She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees-only entrance. But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.

I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother. My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.

There are a few things you should know about my brother’s roommate. Wolfie Cox is complicated, and incredibly sexy. Unfortunately, he has an impressive stick lodged so far up his ass, he’s about as emotionally available as a chinchilla. Actually, that might be an insult to the chinchilla community. So, naturally, I want to ride him like a bicycle.

He’s my brother’s best friend, the hot single dad next door. And one accidental sext later, my massive crush on him is no longer a secret. It’s my own damn fault. I’m 30 years old, for heaven’s sake. I’m a kindergarten teacher and a (reasonably) responsible adult. I should know better than to get tipsy and draft a fake text listing all the dirty things I wish Officer Cole Mitchell would do to me. The contract with Major League Soccer was supposed to help repair my damaged reputation. Then I discovered that I’d made a deal with the devil: The player I’m supposed to recruit is none other than the bad-boy star Premier League footballer Rush McKenzie. British. Tattooed. Sexy. A man currently at the center of a huge scandal. The goal? To convince him to stay in the States. But what’s wrong with a little fun in the meantime? No strings. No sweet nothings. Just a way to pass the time while we’re both struggling to prove our true selves to the world.

Hudson Bradley is the cockiest, most stubborn, hard-headed man I’ve ever known. And for 15 years, he’s been my brother's best friend. But lately, what I’m feeling for him isn’t friendship at all. Why is my heart racing every time his blue eyes lock on mine? Why does every word he rumbles in my ear make my body come alive? And worst of all, why did I bet him that I could find a woman he and his son would both love? If I hadn’t given up on love altogether, Hudson would have been perfect for me. After all, he was there the day my world fell apart.

I hate Jason Carsleigh. Gorgeous, sexy, perfect Jason Carsleigh. He was the golden boy in high school - the one every girl dreamed about. Except me. I have my reasons. He owes me big, so I'm calling in a favor. I need Jason as my date for my ex's wedding. He just has to wear a suit, look hot, and pretend he likes me. Then I'm done with him forever. I'm not going to tell him my secrets. I'm not going to see the not-so-golden side no one else gets to see. I'm not going to fall for him. And I'm definitely not going to rip that sexy suit off him and do every dirty thing imaginable.

Dear Mr. Vega: I felt it necessary to follow up on today’s meeting, since we weren’t able to speak candidly in front of your son. I was shocked to discover that you are Ryder’s dad. I think it would be best if we just pretend that we met in person for the first time today. Your son is a very bright (flirtatious and talkative) student and since his education is a top priority for both of us, I hope I can count on you to respectfully refrain from grinning at me, using that sexy tone of voice, and undressing me with your annoyingly beautiful brown eyes....

I don’t want you. You mean nothing to me. I never loved you. I turned my words into swords. And I cut her down. Shoved the blade in and watched her fall. I said I’d never hurt her and I did. Years later I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted when all I wanted was to indulge in my obsession. When Blair Beaufort literally crashes into Bellamy Creek wearing a ball gown and a tiara, I should have towed her car, said goodnight, and sent her packing. I’m a mechanic, not a hotel manager. I've got enough on my plate trying to keep my shop from going under, my overbearing mother off my back, and my baseball team in contention for the league championship. I don’t have time for a former debutante with zero street smarts and a cash flow problem, even if she is crazy beautiful. But I know better than to think it can last. She wants a fairy tale, and I’m no prince.

I’m not boyfriend material. If a trail of broken hearts and a piss-poor record of failed relationships have taught me anything, it’s this. My buddies are happy to give me shit about my latest breakup from here to next Sunday. Thanks, but I’d rather have a root canal. And a vasectomy. At the same time. Relief comes in an unlikely package - the gorgeous and feisty Maren. She just so happens to be my best friend’s sister, so that’s not awkward at all.

Another great book by Amy Daws. I love how funny her books are with a perfect amount of steam and sweet romance. This is a fake relationship romance which isn't normally my favorite trope but she did it better than anyone before her imho. Not only were Nora and Dean sweet and sexy, their banter was funny, silly and some times so ridiculous I don't think any one could not laugh. The connection and chemistry was on point and I couldn't wait to see them get a HEA. The second best thing about this book is the friendships and the banter with all of the girls. They made you want to be in their circle of friends. Without spoilers, I just have to say the Gilmore Girls banter was awesome. Every time Amy Daws brings up the Gilmore Girls in her books it makes me love her more! #Team Logan!!!!!(Sorry Amy) The narration was perfect but I would expect nothing less from Teddy & Erin because they are both my favorite. Together they really do comedy and sexy well.

Love it!
Oh how the audio was even better than the book! How Dean and Norah ever thought they had a fake relationship made me chuckle! These two had such chemistry from the beginning. How could Norah think Dean was hanging out in her shop for the croinuts only? I just have to shake my head at these two lol. They are so cute together right from the start. Dean is such an amazing fake boyfriend, standing up for Norah with her family. Norah is the perfect plus one for wedding/prewedding activities. Watching their relationship evolve from not so fake to something much more was perfect. These two really brought out the best in each other, especially Dean helping Norah to let loose a little and Norah showing Dean he deserves love. Absolute perfection!

Just when I think Amy Daws couldn't top her last book, along comes this one. Take a Number was another "I can't stop listening until the end" for me. And the audio being by my two favorite narrators made it absolute perfection all around. The story flowed great as usual, and now I want whatever a cronut is. 10/10 all around, and I wait with bated breath for Daws next installment!

I want to live in this world!
I can always count on Amy Daws for humor, heat, and great audiobooks! I’ve read or listened to every book in this series. I look forward to each installment and this was no exception. I am a sucker for mutual appreciation/pining before a couple gets together and I also love a fake relationship with that setup. This book definitely delivered on that! The chemistry and tension between our leads was very satisfying. I also enjoyed both Norah and Dean’s professions because I appreciated that I was reading about driven, successful people that are around my age and successful in ways that feel true to life. I loved revisiting the characters from prior books, I thought this book had a great balance of time spent focused on the main couple and time with other people. I never felt like the world outside their relationship was ignored. I enjoyed that we got to know them as whole people. Each had family that shaped them and a support system of friends. I found a few phrases repeated throughout the book - lots of particular laughing - but it wasn’t too severe. I love listening to Erin Mallon narrating Amy Daws, she strikes just the right tone. I felt both narrators did a great job and this was a fun listen! I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

If you have not read or 🎧to Amy Daws you are missing out. My word this book checked all the romance boxes for me. It helps answer questions I had about Dean in previous books. He is charming and delightful and a little broken. gah.., parents can mess us up. Norah. such a wonderful hard working controlling baking genius of gal! I do not enjoy high angst so this book was perfect for me. Thank you Amy for this book!

Delicious!
When I need a good, funny, steamy romance, Amy Daws is the woman I go to. This came to me a the perfect time! Needing a diversion for an hour or two, I queued this up. And you can guess what happened. I almost finished it before going to bed! It is that much fun! Meet Norah, a successful entrepreneur who owns bakeries. Right there I am hooked. A strong, confident successful woman. Of course she doesn't have time for a social life, she is a busy woman! Her customer and new investor, Dean comes to her aid when she needs a date for her parent's anniversary party. In turn, when he needs a date for a friends weekend, she goes with him. Neither wants a relationship, so this is perfect. Or is it? Witty banter, steamy scenes, sore muscles(that scene cracked me up!), a treasure hunt, delicious pastries, anger, frustration, and success all are in your ears, taking the sweet journey with these two. Each is true to life and easy to relate to. And we can't forget seeing old friends for the previous books and the tire shop references! This is a gem and you don't want to miss it. The series continues with the team of Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton and these two are incredible. I love them together! They both have an easy flow that pulls you in and makes you feel like we are friends. A familiarity creating an intimate feeling as you listen. Their comedic timing is spot on and the characters are fantastic. Loved every minute!

Amy Daws Audible Queen
Once again when reading an Amy Daws book I chose the Audible option. She just puts her heart and soul in to ensuring the Audio books comes across as fun and quick witted as her print books. Take a number did not disappoint. Norah and Dean take us on a roller coaster of fun with their fake sexing/ fake relationship when they catch feelings. We revisit Boulder, Colorado in the next installment of her Wait with me series but this can totally be a standalone listen too. It ticked all the boxes for me and I would urge you to give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Dean finally gets his HEA!
Ah another great story from Amy Daws. The fourth book in the "Wait with me" series. Dean the self made finance guy falls hard for Norah the gorgeous, ambitious baker. After striking out with Kate from Book 1 - Wait with me, and Lynsey from Book 3 - One Moment Please, Dean finally gets his HEA. It all starts out as two friends helping each other out with keeping up appearances for Noah's family and Dean's friends. Who doesn't love a good fake romance? I certainly do, and all that talk of croinuts (not to be mistaken with cronuts) made me so hungry for pastries. These guys have hot and steamy "fake sex" and I was here for it. Also, I love that Amy didn't write Norah's dreams out of the story so they could be together in the end. Who says a woman can't have her croinuts and eat them too! Dean you were delicious and I loved that this eternal bachelor fell hard. These narrators definitely did this story justice. A great 4.5 stars listen. I won this audibook in a giveaway by Amy Daws so thank you for gracing my ears with this deliciousness!!

Great story & narration
I had hight expectations for this audiobook and it lived up to all of them. I was glad to see that Dean will still the loveable, cocky guy that he was in the earlier books and that his personality hadn't changed just because he was the hero this time. The narration by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon was perfect.

Amazing
I honestly cannot express how fab Amy’s audio books are! The narrators really do bring the characters to life and I’m sure anyone that’s listened or read the story will agree that Norah and Dean are both exceptional characters! Dean Moser is a huge flirt and manwhore .....and also a silent investor in Norahs bakery. When Norah needs a ‘no strings’ fake date she turns to Dean with a list of rules to pull off a fake relationship...and well I will leave it there as I don’t want to spoil the story! Amy has once again delivered a unforgettable story. It has everything you would want in this type of story....Comedy, love, hotness.... I cannot recommend this enough! Amy has been a ‘go to’ author for me for a long time now and I can safely say she won’t be losing that title!

5 Sweet, Flirty and Addictive RomCom Stars
If you are an Amy Daws fan you need this audio in your life. If you’ve not listened to any of her audios yet, what are you waiting for? Her RomComs are laugh out loud, roll on the floor funny. Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes, and yes, there are quite a few of them out there in the book world at the moment, don’t let that fact put you off reading this one, because I can guarantee you’ll love Dean Moser and Norah Donahue. My heart was invested from the get-go, Dean is a silent investor in Norah’s new bakery franchise, and let me just say his appetite for Norah’s trademark croinuts knows no end. He’s a regular at her bakery, feasting on her scrumptious iced croinuts. Sadly that’s all he gets to taste, because no matter how many times he might tease her, she shows no interest in anything more. Until that is, she needs a fake date for her parents anniversary party. It turns out that this fake date arrangement could be mutually beneficial, because it would seem, not only has Norah got a meddling mother, but Dean has friends who also want to interfere in his love life. They both decide to shut that train of thought right down, together. Norah is independent and shy, she likes order in her life. She’s a list maker. A planner. Dean is outgoing and fun, a take the bull by the horns kind of guy. Living for the moment. Two opposites, whose simmering attraction turns out to be combustible. Who knew, quiet, sweet Norah could be such a sexy siren when she finally lets go. Neither want commitment or a relationship, but a little bit of fun can’t do any harm. Can it? A completely addictive, sweet, flirty and sexy romcom that I absolutely loved. Add in narration from Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon and I was in audio heaven. These are two of my favourite narrators, they produce all the feels, and I’m telling you, the emotion is real, I must say Teddy Hamilton’s voice is pure sin. If you’re new to this duo, you’re in for a real treat.

Dean and Norah!
Norah has put her heart and soul into ensuring her bakery is a success and with the help of Dean, a silent investor, she is ready to open a second location. She is focused on her career much to the consternation of her mother who believes that her life’s goal should consist of being a wife and mother. Dean is a loyal friend and a successful businessman, but he believes that due to his past that love and relationships are not in his future. They both have people in their lives who are determined to become their personal matchmakers so an arrangement where they pretend they are dating seems like the solution to both their problems. What could possibly go wrong? The banter between them will have you laughing out loud, the chemistry is intense as two people who weren’t looking for love find their perfect match in spite of themselves. The narration of this story was a perfect fit to the characters and it make a great story even better.

A fun and exciting listen that draws you in!
First of all, you can ALWAYS count on Amy Daws to provide a fun and entertaining romantic comedy that will reel you in and have you utterly addicted, and this is exactly what 'Take A Number' did to me! Paired with excellent narrators that fully brought this story to life, you will be completely immersed. The narration is clear, fun, entertaining and really captures the essence of characters, and it made a great listen whilst being stuck indoors. The story is about Norah a bakery owner who is branching out into her own franchise. Dean is a silent investor, and for those who have read some of Daws previous books, will have encountered him as the amazing best friend of Kate the erotic romance writer, and Lindsey the therapist who married Dr Dick. After a string of dating young and seemingly inappropriate females, Deans ‘sister wives’ want to desperately set him up, and ensure that he brings an age-appropriate and approved woman as a guest to Kate’s wedding. But their meddling puts Dean on edge, and he can’t help but become frustrated. He looks to Norah, who he can’t help but watch with fascinated attraction. She is different, innocent and there’s something about her that has him returning to her bakery daily in order to be near her. But Norah is fighting her own matchmaking battle, for her mother is determined to set her up in an attempt to eventually have grandchildren. Both Dean and Norah entered an arrangement, but will it go as smoothly as they intend? And will it be enough to keep everyone off their backs? This story was beautiful and had lots of incredibly romantic and passionate scenes. I love Dean as a character and found that as the book went along he became less shallow and had lots of complexity. I found myself relating to him more than beautiful Norah. Norah is a strong independent female, and she is very inspiring and I loved how well she blended into Dean’s friendship circle, and how he can’t help but be attracted to her natural quirks. This fictional couple is next level, and I could not get enough. I would highly recommend giving this a listen!

Take A Number
Gilmore Girl references to start off? I'm a goner! I've been following this series since Wait With Me and love it. While this story was not my absolute favorite of the series, I was still captivated and laughing out loud. Dean and Norah have chemistry since the beginning and when they start their fake relationship there is no way it's not going to backfire on them. I loved the antics and banter. Amy Daws always knows how to make me LOL. I love this series!
