Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. There's no way home.
Not for John Lee. His search for answers for the System Quest has taken him deep into the Forbidden Zone, into the very arms of his enemies. He's betrayed family and friends and been betrayed in turn. The most powerful human in the System has come to the final leg of his journey.
And still, he has no idea if what he will find will fill the burning need within him. For the Redeemer of the Dead will not stop, until the cries of the lost and the sacrificed are answered.
No matter the cost—to the universe, to Earth, or to himself.
System Finale is the final book of the bestselling post-apocalyptic LitRPG The System Apocalypse and brings the series to a climactic conclusion. The System Apocalypse mixes post-apocalyptic fiction with alien invasions, military science fiction and fantasy elements with game-like statuses and levels.

This was a waist of a book….
This series started out so good. It had interesting characters and story elements. The level ups were interesting and made sense. I’m not sure when but at some point in the last 3-4 books the MC just stopped leveling really. The story arc flatlined and due to way the class and levels are structured the fighting is just redundant. It’s like when some one talked way to long on the first 4 slides of a presentation and has to just push through the rest. It’s really just boring.
The system quest started out okay but it really is boring. Also the mc is just whining and complaining all the time. I mean the dude is over leveled and has all these cheats to grow stronger but the last 3 books have just been repeated fights with the same 3 over powered finishing moves. Now if he can’t over power them he just uses his coding abilities and changes it. I mean it doesn’t really make for a good fight. Also I get that they need to some how finish the fight and the series but there are better ways. He has drug out this system quest story way to long. This should have been finished 2 books ago at least. The last book was a complete waist of time. He could cut out sooo much of the endless explanations of the same thing over and over. Yea we know he likes chocolates yea we know he has anger issues yea we know he’s a idiot and makes bad decisions. Every book spends soo much time over the same thing. Also even though they had new characters it just feels forced. I really wish there was a better ending but I wouldn’t have bought another book in this series regardless.

It is what it is.
So if you are here you are 11 books in and will finish regardless. For better and worse it is more of the same. Less litRPG more rollercoaster ride. I had really hoped the author would find a satisfying end, but fates are predictable. I don’t want to go into spoilers, but I can say I’m left less than satisfied and a little emptier for the experience.

Spoiled brat main character
I have to say the series was good enough to get me all the way through it without quitting, but after finishing, I wish I hadn't. The main character seems to be a psychopathic narcissist, willing to burn down thousands (millions?) of civilizations, kill billions, all to 'get an answer'. The author preaches how corrupt the systems is, being used by beings willing to let the universe burn to the ground for their own 'corrupt' personal interests, only to immediately turn around and abuse the system to fix things to match his own personal interests when he finally takes power and kicks the evildoers out of power. Main character does little to no personal growth in the 10+ years the series is supposed to cover.

It was a finale
It was time to end the series. I wish there was further character development of supporting characters along the series, but alas no. The MC was becoming predictable. I liked the concept and theme, but wished it was revealed earlier and explored more. Performance was as expected by Podehl, fantastic!

Glad it’s over. It ended well but didn’t need to be this long.
I loved the first 7-8 books in this series-absolutely loved them….but they started to become a grind at the end. This last book was unnecessary, and the story should have wrapped up 2 books ago, but I’m glad I stuck with it. Had a nice emotional closure point at the end, and I still liked the series as a whole quite a lot. Farewell, system.

End of a series is always a bit of a letdown
This series has been fantastic; but this ending focused heavily on the wrong things.
There’s a lot of action, but at this stage of the series, the action is just muddy. I loved the climax of the ending and honestly wished Tao Wong got to there in the first ten chapters.
I would have listened to two hours of the aftermath than the paltry ten minutes we got.

I'm glad I don't have to waste another credit.
It's done. It left me feeling empty or rather unsatisfied. Ending felt rushed. The battle scenes just blended together. There was nothing amazing about the writing. There wasn't any character development from John. He dies as bitter and stupid as he starts this series. It's been a struggle to slog through these last few books. I'm glad it's over.

Engaging and thought provoking
Humurous and disturbing in different turns it does make you wonder what humanity would be like if there was an apocalypse and we all got skills... The daydream of many a nerd! Easy to relate to the characters and a good storyline. Very enjoyable from start to finish for the whole series.

The End... or is it?
The hardest part of writing a book I imagine is the end which I'm sure also is true for a series. The best part of this series was the beginning for me. The first few books were good and I enjoyed all the books but it is often the case that stories find it hard to stary as engaging all the way through.
This last book is a conclusion which was a bit like the conclusion of Game of Thrones, although not quite as poor as that it sort of peters out slightly. But I did give it 5 stars in tribute to the fact I stuck with it and it manged to keep me engaged enough to carry on following it. I think it has left room if the author wanted to, to do more but I personally don't think they should.

A bittersweet, ending that was well needed.
how does one leave a review for a book series 12 long coming to an end.
its bitter sweet. can i say this book wasnt as good as the first or second? sure. But it is an ending to a story we all have followed for a very long time.
and it is glorious. but very needed. a series that felt like it ran out of steam in this last book.
well done nick, well done tao.
