Publisher's summary

The Path of the Titans has been unlocked!

Knox wants nothing more than to escape his small-town life as a woodcutter. He finally gets his chance to delve deep into a dungeon, and his world is forever changed! When disaster strikes, even in his new life as an Adventurer, can he survive long enough to walk the mysterious Path of the Titans?

In the realm of Premar, where magic is wild and unbound, rules are about to be set forth. The Path of the Titans will unlock the Titan System, forcing all magic to obey the laws and rules set forth by the powerful Titans themselves.

Our journey begins with a young man, Knox. Born into a world of magic unbound by rules, he learns all he can from his mother's journals. Who she was or why she studied magic remains a mystery, but a fire has been lit inside of Knox, and he will stop at nothing to find out. He goes from a simple woodcutter to one of the few Adventurers able to delve deep into dungeons and learn special techniques to fight back against the monsters.

When life takes several twists and turns, he finds himself walking the Path of the Titans, a System of rules and powers that spread like wildfire.

A magical journey filled with adventure, intrigue, and a mysterious System awaits any who embarks on this journey with Knox. Can he survive the awesome power of the Titans? Can he live long enough for any of it to matter?

This is a LitRPG book with system levels, stats, and cool abilities. No harem and loads of fun violence.

Tremendous Story!

Well worth the money! Great MC and supporting characters, and the storyline is just what a litrpg should be.

Great Start

System Activation: Path of The Titans book 1 by Timothy McGowen had a fantastic start, slowed in the middle some then finished with a good end. Great job of narration by Daniel Wisniewski. DRmz 4-13-24.

Path of Victory

Path of the Titans is a new series from the author behind the fantastic hero’s journey Arcane Knight. With a mix of a cultivation system then switching over to LitRPG it’s the perfect blend for the genre. System Activation is a slow burn like Timothy’s other books but when it picks up in pace, you better hold on because you are in for a ride! Where there isn’t a shock is that Daniel Wisniewski gives an outstanding performance!

Epic start to a new series!

Great beginning of a new story. The narrator performed very nicely. The story line was nice and paced and the entire story was epic

Book has a tonal shift halfway through

Book wasn’t terrible until about the halfway mark. Book started out following 1 path and then ended up shifting entirely to a different one. Which in my mind makes no sense since you should have either started with the latter half right from jump street or continued with the former. Basically the book started as a mage cultivation adventure book to a litrpg base building bs halfway through and where as I enjoy both types the way that they were unceremoniously slapped together made me annoyed. Either way you look at it the first half the book was superfluous at best and was a waste of time.

why?

OK, so, we have a cool story in the beginning with a character learning to be on their own and using (as we find out later) a substandard system to gain power.

cool, I'm for this. I'll even go so far as to accept the change to the titan system.

but my God does the MC become the most unlikable, introspective, waste of space. introduced to the system that literally built his world, he complains.

he captures literal murders, and he has a crisis over it.

knows that there are injured and missing people? sits around for a week learning a language

needs to hunt monsters to get stronger? cries about hunting monsters

the OP gifts he was given? makes him weaken than he was at the same rank in the first half of the book.

this MC is horrible. why the massive moral dilemmas, cowardice and outright being stupid. his questions to wick about the rings? why keep asking them? he seems denser than a brick.

meh it is so so

the writing quality and story takes a nose dive about half way through. first half was decent but the second half was very juvenile and boring.
