Publisher's Summary

When Justin Slade discovers he has super strength, speed, and the ability to seduce women, life gets a lot more interesting. But as he learns the ropes of his new supernatural abilities, he soon realizes he's not alone.

Vampires, felycans, sorcerers, Templars - they all exist, and what he doesn't know can most certainly kill him in more gruesome ways than he can count.

good story, weak mc

only complaint I had was with the mc being so judgmental of other people after he blatantly describes himself as a fat nerd. I would have felt bad for the mc but he did hardly did anything to test let alone improve his physical or supernatural powers thus putting himself in the bad situation. lastly, enough with the crying.

Good start<br />

Justins growth was good. But even some supernatural stuff is knowledge. The girl would be the same with more knowledge because who she is. . . Overall though it's a good start.

Adore this Series in Print &amp; Now Audio!

This series holds a special place in my heart. Princess Bride references, nerdy little tidbits, urban fantasy, fun characters, even the slightly after-school special teen drama beginning - it speaks to everything I enjoy in books. I am smitten. This is a fun read that left me aching for the sequel. Sweet Blood of Mine is fantastic for adults and young adults alike!

As for the narrator, as I specified in the review title, I first fell in love in print so I had pretty firm inner voices for characters in my head. The narrator did a fine job - probably even deserves the full five stars... but his voices don't always match what my brain expectes to hear. Not his fault, my weird brain is totally to blame in this case. Though as I listen to more audio books in the Overworld Chronicles series I hope I can clear out my inner voices to fully enjoy the narration.

Bit too PG 13 for me

Well written good dialog but dont understand how characters can deal with supernatural creatures who murder and yet dont even utter one swear word. Too sanitized for me .

I Couldn't Stop Listening

A magical teen fantasy read in a deep voice, literally everything I wanted. I somehow managed to finish this 17 hour book in 3 days.

Decent story and an amazing narrator but....

Sweet blood of mine has a rough start. It’s a fairly decent story once it gets rolling but I can’t tell you how many times I had to pick this up to get through the first couple chapters. Once I got into it though I was hooked. It gets better, I promise.

I decided to download the audio book so I could listen to it at work and managed to get most of the way through it in one shift. The narrator does an excellent job. His renditions of the characters added a very nice level of depth to the story.

However, and this is a major issue for me (not for everyone of course), the audiobook is an abridged version of the story. When I got home I thought I would finish by reading it on kindle simply because I prefer reading over listening if possible. As I was flipping through the pages trying to find my place I noticed segments here and there that were left out of the audible book and in one case even two whole chapters! Some of the little tidbits here and there don’t mean much, but they do offer deeper insights into the world and the characters. The missing couple chapters and a few of the segments did actually seem fairly major, although as I haven’t finished the kindle version yet I can’t truly say how much they impact the story.

Overall it’s a good read or listen once you get past the beginning. Personally, I would say read it to get the full story, although the audible version has the benefit of a truly excellent narrator.
