Publisher's summary

Silence has fallen. The Psy are free to feel emotion. Free to love. But Silence was never a prison for Ivan Mercant. The biggest threat to his future lies dormant in his brain—a psychic monster that wants only to feed. And now, the brutal leash he's kept on that monster is slipping. He prepared for this day, for the end of Ivan Mercant . . . but that was before he met Lei.

As primal as she is human, this wild changeling brings color into his life. Then the dream shatters in a rain of blood. Lei is gone. Vanished without a trace . . . until he meets strangely familiar eyes across a busy San Francisco street.

Soleil Bijoux Garcia is a healer who has lost everything. She exists in a world of desolate aloneness . . . till the day she finds herself face-to-face with a lethal stranger. The animal who is her other half knows this man, but her memories are tattered fragments. Sorrow and a need for vengeance are all that drive her. Her mission? To kill the alpha of the DarkRiver leopard pack.

But fate has other plans. Soon, a deadly soldier who believes himself a monster and a broken healer might be all that stand between life and death for the entire Psy race . . . .

Contains mature themes.

Over way to soon

This was a short but sweet addition to the Psy Changeling series. While it finally gives some answers about a long time mysterious threat it still left me wanting more.
But more importantly, just as I was getting to know & like the main characters, it ended. I throughly enjoyed their part of the story, I just wished there was more of it.

HEA if only for a day

I've heard other reviewers say that this story wasn't as good as expected because it was too similar to other books in the series by the author. I disagree. I feel that this book, the main characters individually as separate people as well as a couple, and their relationships with the secondary characters new and returning are no more similar to the other books in the series than any random HEA relationship story.

This story stands on it's own. It has a confident female main character that is neither dominant nor submissive. The story is told, initially from the point of view of a dominant but shy man who is falling in love for the first time only to lose that love a few days after first meeting. I'm gonna stop there so as not to give away any spoilers but my point was again that the story is a creative dance towards HEA.

One of my favorites

I enjoy most of this authors books, especially the psych- changeling. Learned much more about Lucas as alpha, hadn't felt much connection to him before. Hope we get more about the wolves. As always enjoy the acceptance for those who are different from ourselves. Can't wait for the next book!

Unexpected character

I loved this story and this couple. The backstories for each of the main characters was amazing and nicely written. It’s not my favorite book of the series, but this series is my favorite and this book was better the second time around after reading the next one in the series. The family, pack connections and the way they build keeps me coming back for more as each new book in the series is released.

Now we know

First off, we finally get another Mercant story, as well as a surprise from Sky Elm. Also, the information about the Scarab queen, was much anticipated. I love anything Psy/Changeling/Trinity. My favorite stories.

Enjoyable As Always

Aside from the fact that a simple conversation could've solved one of the major points of contention, this was a very enjoyable story. As ever, Angela hit it out of the park with the narration.
It was good to see some of the old characters without them being a major part of the story, but then again, that's par for the course for Nalini.
I'll be doing a reread in short order.
