Publisher's summary

Toby Andrews is cooking up more than a little trouble for Evan Blankenship. Because of pranks, indiscretions, and plain bad timing, his ability to work in New York's temples of haute cuisine is a thing of the past. When Toby's sister tells him he should look up an acquaintance whose restaurant - Le Potiron - is failing, he doesn't have much choice.

Pretty soon he's in bed, literally, with a cook who hates people, trying to save a restaurant that only the neighborhood mothers seem to love, and on the verge of another - possibly painful - lesson or two about what it means to be successful.

Evan hates everyone but Toby. Toby likes to stir things up. See what's on the menu at Le Potiron in Stirring Up Trouble.

Simmering stew or simmering emotions

Both require occasional stirring up of trouble and steam to heat thoroughly. Season with spicy friends, egotistical enemies, cute kids, marvelous moms, talented cooks and servers, creative customers, baby blogs, hot dates, long nights, great friends, demanding family, frequent emergencies, separating walls, lack of furniture, snoopy reporters, enticing food, upscale redecorating, random twin brothers, lack of money, exploding enthusiasm, baby strollers, nephew Adam, and crazy chefs to have almost everything you need. Just add money and stir. Serve while hot and aroma surrounds the plate in a cloud of steam and love.

Charming!

This was cute and funny, very low angst, if any, I really liked there were no misunderstandings and it was just them trying to make it work and the restaurant succeed.

entertaining

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: not really
Would I listen to it again: there are others i'd listen too before it, but i'd listen again if i were looking for something short.
Story comments: Was entertaining enough, but I would have preferred more back story on Evan.

Narrator comments: Narrator did a good job, there were a couple of slips (eg: Tony instead of Toby - but this could have been in the text). I had no problem distinguishing any of the characters and inflection was in all the right places - overall I have no real issues.

Ok Listen

The story was cute and I liked Even and Tony but not sure I enjoyed the narrator very much. I really did not like when he did voice change for a woman's character it was bad.

Romance in the Kitchen

Stirring Up Trouble is a sweet romance focusing on the inner workings of the restaurant world. Toby is a chef who keeps getting fired from his jobs due to his family situation, but he has the skill and passion that would fit in any five star restaurant. Evan is a man who just wants to cook and enjoy his restaurant, but due to a falling out with a malicious business partner, he’s found himself trying to save a dying restaurant. Toby is exactly what Evan needs to not only save his business but also to revive his persona life. The romance between the two men is fast and feisty, and despite the almost instalove feel of it, I found their relationship to be extremely entertaining. This was a fun book with fluff and feel good moments – the perfect quick read for anyone who wants some fun and sweetness.
