Painful to get through

Narrator is good. Science is usually straight forward. This book is endless anecdote after endless anecdote. Rather than serving theory directly, this book wanders through painful, time consuming stories. It always sets up delayed reward with no payoff. One can apply science, but not story after story after story. Lacks integration of the ideas put forward, but suggests that the reader should. Couldn't finish the book. Jumped to the final chapter, hoping for summation & integration. Disappointed again. Taxed my patience after 3 chapters.

Superficial and Boring

My goodness, what a rocky start. I get it, the author is highly successful and is in great demand by big names and big corporations but when is he going to get into the meat of his ideas that are so called "breakthrough" and "promising"? So far, it's a bloated, superficial book with a lot of self promotion and self hype. He sums up many ideas already out there, and is a combination of ideas already floating around LA --> Landmark Education + Influence + Kaizen. It's so boring to hear him on repeat about all his successes and having to wade through irrelevant facts about his life (missing his friends from SoCal while at Stanford? Saving people from AIDS and taking credit for Trader Joe's?) The listener just wants the actual idea. Finally after 16 minutes, he shares his first idea...start small. Then get on Instagram and show your work to build a community around your small idea. I thought I was buying something of substance but this is turning out to be a great waste of my time. This book needs major editing. I hope it gets better, if it does, I'll modify this review.

the best self-help book for me

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I totally recommend this book to anyone who wants to make a change in his/her life. This book is so different from pretty much all other books i have ever read, and I have read a lot! What I like about this book is that it does not give you the general, larger than life, power of imagination, law of attraction kind of advice. It is more SPECIFIC: it provides you with actual strategies, which for someone like me (a major dreamer) is absolutely necessary.

really like the narrator and the topic is good

interesting topic felt more like a good workshop fantastic for listening to while commuting which I of course did. It gave me great formula for first for identifying habits and then replacing them with good habits really helpful
I thought the narrator was amazing and I really hope to hear him read other books. Thank you to the author and narrator for a great book

Simple and Practical

This book does a good job of breaking down the conclusions of complex studies of what does and does not promote positive behavior change. Rather than trying to inspire the reader with grandiose dreams or a simple hack that will allegedly fix everything, this book presents him with a framework for categorizing behaviors, multiple strategies for addressing those behaviors, and a multitude of examples of how to apply that knowledge in practice. The book even encourages the reader to pick a behavior he wants to change and regularly recommends exercises so he can start even while he reads the book. Though some of the author's personal biases are detectable, he does a good job of keeping the overall tone objective, simple, and practical.

This book may not be as inspirational or exciting as some other self-help books but it's much more useful. I feel that I can clearly understand and apply the strategies he outlines to any behavior that I wish to change. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Painful to listen to.

Purchased this book to help with creating good habits. The author puts all of his examples to personal stories. They're painful to listen to and try to piece together what points the author is trying to convey. Wish I didn't wast almost 7 hours trudging through this material.
