Publisher's summary
Please note: contains explicit content.
Sounds Like America is a wild sound collage of the United States as seen by the people who know it best and tell it like it really is: comedians.
Hosted by a rotating cast of seasoned comics, each episode covers a different American pastime, region, city, characteristic, or zeitgeist. The show opens with a host introduction, followed by a sound collage that features stand-up comedy, funny interviews with special guests and folks on the street, and even local music. It's a hilarious (and sometimes touching) tribute to our complicated country.

Story
The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Story
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Story
For the last 100,000 years, we Sapiens have accumulated enormous power. But despite all our discoveries, inventions, and conquests, we now find ourselves in an existential crisis. The world is on the verge of ecological collapse. Misinformation abounds. And we are rushing headlong into the age of AI—a new information network that threatens to annihilate us. For all that we have accomplished, why are we so self-destructive? Nexus looks through the long lens of human history to consider how the flow of information has shaped us, and our world.

I thought they were supposed to be comedians
apparently all of these people were actually working comedians comedies like music everybody has different taste. but most of these quote on quote comedians tasted awful does comedy suck as bad as music today I guess I'm just getting old. I'll stick with my Rodney Dangerfield George Carlin Eddie Murphy Richard Pryor and of course Robin Williams yes all the great ones are dead and the new ones haven't learned shitt from them

What an adventure
At first I thought, I’ve hiked plenty, what’s this kid’s story going to be as a rookie ?
What an adventure!! So well described where I felt I was on the trail with you. I had my own trail name while in this book. I recalled my own trips and the settings to imagine yours.
Thank you for sharing your story.

Profanity Alert!
Some will read this and say, "Prude!" That okay. It takes all kinds of people to make this "America" great.
I really liked the 1st minute of the 1st episode "Midwest." It had a great introduction, including the commentary on the three states that allow the blind to have hunting licenses. LOL. But the next two minutes had the F bomb 3-4 times, along with G D, S***, and a slew of others. As the first three minutes go, so will the rest. I reinforces why I don't go to comedy shows. Listening to the things kids say are often just as funny and more enjoyable. My time is better spent on other media.

comedy clift notes of the USofA
A fast humerous, clift note view of the USofA thru the eyes of many stand up comedians.
Since I recently retired, and am currenty making a bottomless bucket list, Traveling around the USofA is pn the list. These humerous views of places add to my bucket.

Mindless Anti-American drivel posing as comedy.
Felt more like a bland and politically correct commentary of America you’d hear on NPR than an actual comedy show. An incredibly candid moment of honesty at one point in the audiobook where this one guy says comedians are just very sad people floating through life seeking validation. You can hear the biggest moments of applause and adulation from the audiences didn’t come from any actual jokes but from condescending holier-than-thou put downs against ordinary Americans as a bunch racist and xenophobic simpletons. If you want real comedy stay away from this PC garbage and go listen to Kevin Hart, Joe Rogan and Daniel Tosh
