Story
My planned trip for two unexpectedly turned into a trip for one. Rather than let my breakup get me down, I packed my bags and decided a week at a luxury resort was just what I needed. But one calamity after the next, and suddenly I was stuck without a hotel room, along with a few hundred other people. It looked like my fancy vacation was about to turn into me sleeping on the hotel lobby floor. Until I overheard a gorgeous man pretending to be someone he wasn’t in order to steal a reservation from a guest who hadn’t shown up yet.

Story
The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

Hockey star Max Yearwood was everything I needed at the time - fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months, since he’d signed with a new team 3,000 miles away. Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Story
My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Story
When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was...well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me. Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site - one that invited men ages 21 to 27 to apply for a date.

I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old". Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds. I was starting to lose hope. Until a knock at my door came, and God answered my prayers. Except...uh...wrong prayer, God. I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion...just not as my roommate. Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway. While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined. Then, cupcakes showed up at my door.

There are bad ideas, and there are good bad ideas. My former fiancé banging someone else—that was a bad idea. A good girl having her first-ever one-night stand with the bad-boy stranger she just met in a liquor store? Awesome bad idea. When I find out my one-night stand was looking for revenge, I should run—far away. But I don’t...because rebounding with Vince is the most awesome bad idea ever. Do I want to help him get back at our exes? Oh. Hell. Yes.

Kristen Petersen doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen - especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family.

Publisher's summary
A new, sexy stand-alone from number one New York Times best seller Vi Keeland.
When my grandmother found out she didn’t have long to live, she embarked on a crazy trip—jumping out of airplanes and scuba diving with sharks.
After I repeatedly voiced my concern, Gram blocked me—her own grandson—on text and social media, leaving me only her travel companion Eleanor’s number.
Eleanor started sending me pictures of Gram’s adventures. At first she seemed nice, but when I attempted to persuade her to talk some sense into her friend, she told me where I could stick my advice. After that, photos arrived with snarky comments, and Eleanor and I got into it on more than one occasion.
When I heard Gram’s upcoming plans were more dangerous than ever, I hopped on a plane.
Since I arrived late, I headed to the bar for a drink, figuring I’d surprise her in the morning.
To my delight, I met a gorgeous woman looking for a no-strings-attached night. Nora was just what I needed. She invited me back to her room, telling me to give her a 10-minute head start. But when I went to pay her bar tab, I realized how much she’d had to drink. As much as I wanted to ignore it, I couldn’t. So I stood Nora up.
I knew she’d be pissed, but I also knew I’d never see her again.
Except never came a little early. Namely, the next morning when I went to meet my grandmother and her evil-spinster friend. Because old Eleanor turned out to be young Nora from last night. And if I thought the woman disliked me before, that was nothing compared to how ticked-off she was now. Or how unhappy she was going to be that their party of two was about to become a party of three.

Phenomenal book.
I don’t know how to write the proper phrases to review this book. All I’m going to say is Something Unexpected is an emotional, laugh out loud, snort crying, heart wrenching and heart warming book. It’s everything a good book should be. One of the best book I’ve read so far this year.

Typical Vi Keeland
Something Unexpected is typical Vi Keeland.
It starts off fun and flirty, but it turned into a serious but beautiful romance. Beck is a jerk and Nora is living each day like it will be her last. She is also the girl who is helping his grandmother do the same. The story is heartwarming with steam.
TW: mention of love on with alzheimer's, parental abandonment, cancer, death of a loved one, cheating off page

This is a UNFORTGETABLE story
Teddy Hamilton kills it! I could listen to him all day. Andi Arndt did a good job too. I didn't fall in love with her narrating Nora, but that could also be because Nora wasn't always likable to me. I'd listen to another audible book with these two narrators.
Something Unexpected is a heartfelt emotional journey full of self-discovery and personal growth.
I did not expect to laugh as much as I did, I did not expect to cry at heart-wrenching moments, and I did not expect to feel as much joy as I did for these two characters.
From the first hello, Nora and Beck’s chemistry was electrifying. Their banter had me laughing through the entire book. Their quick wit and arguments were their foreplay, and I could not get enough of it.
I LOVED that Beck surprised me with his depth. He is not just an alpha, sexy male. He has so many emotions that I think those around him were missing. He wasn’t really pleased that his relationship with Nora would be solely based on sex, but if that was how he could keep Nora in his life then he was going to accept her terms.
I love the free-spirited, wise grandmother who has a sense of humor that anyone would be jealous of. I enjoyed the funny, cocky younger brother who brought some light laughter to the table.
I 100% recommend this amazing book!

There Should Have Been Trigger-Warnings
The plot-twist made the rest of the book unbearable. I knew that the story dealt with heavy issues based on the synopsis, but the plot-twist made listening to the rest of the book such a drag.
The conflict between Beck and Nora was so shallow and contrived, almost as much as the foundation for their relationship. I found myself rolling my eyes every single time Nora pulled away from Beck. It's rare that I hate an FMC as much as I do Nora. She did not want Beck to fall in love with her because she did want to hurt him, but very clearly did not exercise any self-control and boundaries at all. The entire drama was sooo predictable, even with the plot-twist, I hate myself for even picking this up.
The only saving grace for this book was both narrators' performance. Both actors were excellent.

Amazing
I have read all of Vi's book and love them all, but this one made me laugh and cry. I would definitely recommend it.
The narrators are also excellent.

A wonderful and delightful read!
Vi Keeland keeps on imaging books that bring us to our knees with sadness and tears, cackles of laughter as I’m driving, sex scenes which score off the Richter scale & make me want a man like Beck!
This one caught me unawares (𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬) with a part of the story and even though i usually pick 'it', this time i sobbed ridiculously.
Thank you Vi, for this book, this year has been a personal disaster and reading/listening to this book helped lift my spirits. It is definitely appreciated ♥️😘

Hurt my heart then healed it again.
Vi you have gone it again, but really there was never any doubt. I loved this story. I very quickly fell in love with all of the characters and although I saw the twist coming it still hit me hard when it happened. Chapters 27 onward had me crying, pacing and saying ‘No! Stop it!’ out loud but I just NEEDED to finish. Thank you so much, as always for sharing your stories with us.

Loved this one
Listened almost non-stop to this funny and emotionally moving story. Even though the subject matter was serious, and at times sad, I found myself smiling at the banter and some of the situations the main characters got themselves into. Ms Arndt and Mr Hamilton were, as always, wonderful, bringing the characters to life and making the listener feel all the emotions. Worth the credit

I cried, I laughed.
This was a great story. It didn’t end completely the way I thought it would which is always great to be surprised. It was a really enjoyable listen.

Story
It started out like any other Tuesday. I spent 12 hours writing algorithms for one of the largest companies in the world and then came home to work on a pet project of mine—feeding facts about the men I knew into a formula to find my perfect match before my twenties came barreling to a close.

Story
The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.
