Publisher's summary

Sometimes, just one person can pull a whole family apart. And sometimes, it just takes one person to pull it back together.

For fans of Bridgerton, New York Times best-selling Regency-romance author Mary Balogh shows how love truly conquers all in this new Westcott family novel.

As a young man, Justin Wiley was banished by his father for mysterious reasons, but now his father is dead, and Justin has been Earl of Brandon for six years. A dark, dour man, he nonetheless takes it as his responsibility to care for his half-sister, Maria, when her mother dies. He travels to her home to fetch her back to the family seat at Everleigh Park.

Although she adored him once, Maria now loathes Justin, and her friend, Lady Estelle Lamarr, can see immediately how his very name upsets her. When Justin arrives and invites Estelle and her brother to accompany Maria to Everleigh Park to help with her distress, she begrudgingly agrees for Maria's sake.

As family secrets unravel in Maria's homecoming, Justin, too, uncovers his desire for a countess. And, while he may believe he's found an obvious candidate in the beautiful 25-year-old Lady Estelle, she is most certain that they could never make a match....

I love the Wescotts!

This is another wonderful addition to the series. Such a beautifully told story. Both characters are delightful and easy to empathize with. Justin’s step mum was despicable and I kept waiting for her daughter to realize that. Mary Balogh was in her bag for this series. I’ve read majority of them, my favorites are Someone to wed, someone to care, someone to romance and someone to cherish.

first time listening

The narrator was female and I struggled with the male characters, even though she changed tones and accents.

Lots of characters mentioned

Wonder how much shorter the book would have been without a recitation of names of all the characters from previous books ;)

The Transition from Revulsion to Love

Estelle’s transition from “revulsion” was more from fear of the unknown — Man. At 25 years of age, Estelle still was naive, ignorant of the ‘push - pull’ of strong attraction, even lust. [I was reminded of my own 16-year-old “love” for my first boyfriend: 2-3 intense months of making out wherever we could.]
The 4 stars I gave the story were unavoidable given the interminable hour or so devoted to naming the wedding invitees. Was it really necessary to drone on about ALL the Wescotts et al.? Additionally, whether treated as another in the Wescott series or as a standalone, Someone Perfect did not require that final rehashing of history; it already was done — or could have been enhanced — along the way to the couple’s finding (or discovering) love.
A few words about Roselyn Landor: her narration of Mary Balogh’s books never disappoints. SO good!
Given all that, I truly did enjoy Someone Perfect.

If it's Mary Balogh...

I have read all of her books. I wait impatiently for her next book because I know if it's Mary Balogh, it has to be GOOD and they always are. This one notwithstanding. I loved it. Roslyn Landor always does an excellent job with narration.

Another Great Balogh Story

While my plot summary would just be duplicative, I strongly recommend this and all other Balogh books. Hey Audible...Author has many not available as audiobooks. PLEASE get those works into audiobook form.

Someone Perfect

I enjoyed this book so much. I have to admit that I have become addicted to audiobooks. This was a straight listen. When I do choose a book, the Narrator is important too. Ms Landor is my FIRST choice. She brings each project to life. The Storyline was very arresting. THANK YOU Ms Balogh and Ms Landor.

More than romance

I love the book because it was about family and love and caring. Sad that the series is over. I would like to know more about each of the characters I got to love. Hopefully RL will write more books in the near future about the Westcotts :)
