In the first book of a sizzling dystopian romance series, psychic gifts are a death sentence and there are rules to survival: Trust no one. Lie to everyone. And whatever you do, don’t fall for your greatest enemy.

TRUST NO ONE.

Wren Darlington has spent her whole life in hiding, honing her psychic abilities and aiding the rebel Uprising in small ways. On the Continent, being Modified means certain death—and Wren is one of the most powerful Mods in existence. When one careless mistake places her in the hands of the enemy and she’s forced to join their most elite training program, she’s finally handed the perfect opportunity to strike a devastating blow from inside their ranks.

LIE TO EVERYONE.

But training for Silver Block can be deadly, especially when you’re harboring dangerous secrets and living in close quarters with everyone who wants you dead.

AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T FALL FOR YOUR GREATEST ENEMY.

As the stakes grow ever higher, Wren must prove herself to Silver Block. But that’s easier said than done when your commanding officer is the ruthless and infuriatingly irresistible Cross Redden, who doesn’t miss anything when it comes to her. And as war rages between Mods like her and those who aim to destroy them, Wren must decide just how far she’s willing to go to protect herself . . . and how much of the Continent is worth saving.

Editorial Review

A new series to obsess over
A dystopian, enemies-to-lovers tale with a powerful heroine and a dash of fantasy? Dani Francis, did you write this for me? Needless to say, I inhaled this debut, which hooked me from the outset with its air of mystery and surprising humor. Wren Darlington has spent her life hiding—both her true identity (which even she doesn’t know) and her powerful psychic abilities that would mean death by execution. Both by chance and by her own mistakes, she lands herself in the Continent’s military training program where she now has the opportunity to join the rebellion of Modifieds (like herself) and cause chaos from inside enemy lines. One problem (among many): Her attraction to her commanding officer. Amanda Dolan (Red Queen) is perfectly cast as Wren, and the twists that come in the final third of the book already have me aching for a sequel. —Katie O., Audible Editor

I stayed up way too late reading this book. I did not want to put it down. The characters were developed really well, and the main characters were excellent along with their side characters. There were twist and turns that surprised you. I agree with the comparison with fourth wing and hunger games, but it was very unique system excellent first book I would read it again. And I really look forward to the future books!!

This book is good and entertaining, but I think it’s a bit overhyped. The narrator and production was done well. I will continue the series.

An incredible piece! A little bit of fourth wing and hunger games with yes, please vibes! I know this book might seem like you’ve heard this before but it’s a great trope and the book is really really good! I love the ending so much. Want to read the next so bad but gotta be patient! Ugh! Please hurry and write it already! 😂

Yes, please!

This is a compelling story worth the time to check out. I love the wit and sarcasm of the many characters. It was a wonderful break from the many fae based romantic books. set in a military school similar to Forth wing, with an equally strong and sarcastic female lead character. Im already devastated that there is no more ready for me to dive into!!!

great read
