Publisher's summary
The Thunder & Shield Travelling Carnival exists to bring joy and merriment to small towns all across the United States. But that is not its only purpose… Within the carnival, a trio of men carry on the outfit’s more charitable pursuits. And these are no ordinary men.
Mr. Atlas—the carnival’s owner, strongman, and wrestling champion—can bend railroad spikes with his bare hands. Saul Abraham, known as Solomon the Sorcerer while performing magic shows on the carnival stage, wields a power that has little to do with sleight of hand. And Carny, the tattooed son of a gypsy fortune teller, has a strange and mysterious ability that is yet to be truly understood.
These men specialize in helping folks who have nowhere else to turn, and they are quite capable at the task. But, after arriving in a small town in upstate Ohio in early 1950, the carnival men are tested like never before. A young girl is in danger, and what at first appears to be a case of child abuse, is soon revealed to be an evil plot of demonic proportions. With the little girl’s life hanging in the balance, the strongman, the magician, and the gypsy must face impossible odds to stop a cult from completing a terrible rite, which, if completed, could bring about a global devastation not seen since the days of the Black Death.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Story
When two marines and their corpsman reunite after a decade apart, they find themselves caught up in the mystery of their former squad leader’s disappearance. With little more to go on than a handful of disturbing charcoal sketches and the whispers of a local legend, they plunge into the depths of one of America’s last truly wild places. But the trees themselves begin to whisper dark secrets. Secrets of trafficking and violence. Of rotten science and blood. Of something else that lurks in the shadows of the pines—something ancient, savage, and hungry.
