Publisher's summary
A Sunday Times best seller.
The 13th adrenaline-filled Dirk Pitt classic from multi-million-copy king of the adventure novel, Clive Cussler.
A hundred and forty years after a British ship wrecks on the way to an Australian penal colony and the survivors discover diamonds on the tropical island where they wash up, Maeve Fletcher, one of their descendants, is stranded on an island in Antarctica with a party of passengers after their cruise ship seemingly abandons them.
Dirk Pitt, on an expedition to find the source of a deadly plague that is killing dolphins and seals in the Weddell Sea, finds Maeve and the passengers and rescues them from death. When Pitt later uncovers the cause of the plague, he discovers that Maeve's father, Arthur Dorsett, and her two sisters are responsible because of their diamond-mining technology. A deadly race develops to stop Dorsett from continuing his murderous mining operations and to head off a disaster that will kill millions. Pitt's struggle to foil Dorsett's ruthless plan to destroy the market for diamonds and thus gain a monopoly of his own takes him from harrowing adventures off the west coast of Canada to being cast adrift in the Tasman Sea.

Clive is getting long in the tooth.
I want to like it because it's Clive Cussler, but the last few stories have been tedious to get through. I'm a fan of NUMA, the Oregon files, and the Isaac Bell series, and I want to know what happens next, but please, someone needs to get a hold of Clive and have him tighten it up a little bit more. The plots, subplots, the twists and turns , and the details are just getting too complex, far-fetched, and long-winded. I just drove 3000 miles and had more fun asking my phone about landmarks than I did listening to the story.

I really enjoy Clive Cussler’s stories as a rule. This one not so much. It almost felt like there were bits of different books put into this story and I would be thinking, hmm, this sounds familiar. It probably won’t keep me from purchasing future books by Mr. Cussler though.

Don't read unless you like gore
Most of the time I enjoy a Dirk Pit novel, though if this is an indication it will be my last.
in order to make the bad people more evil Mr Cussler decided to go into great length to describe: chocking, dismemberment, killing. none of which really furthered the plot. it also appears Mr Cussler had some really outdated opinions of the LGBTQ community. I would venture to say Woke is not within his large vocabulary.
Now, that said, if you enjoy gratuitous violence, where it does not end well for the good guys or the bad guys: you'll love this book

Who proofs this stuff?
I have read or listened to almost every book from Cussler. This felt like it was written by a female from Australia or England. I’ve played golf on camelback mountain. They don’t measure the distance in meters. I find it difficult to believe that an Admiral from the US would measure is runs in kilometers. This book was mush and hard to listen to.

Action all the way!
The story starts in the 1800’s and then moves to modern day!
Dirk Pitt action man never lets the action fall and remarkably escapes each time, A little like Jack Reacher. Plenty of action which makes you want to keep listening. Scott Brick, the reader was excellent and he changed the characters voices which made the story come to life.
The story would make a great movie.

Needs work on the Australian accent
Being Australian, it was very difficult to listen to the over emphasised Ozzie accent, we don’t talk like that! Maybe in some outback far North Queensland backwater or Pauline Hanson.
Just like English and Australians will over emphasise the American accents which will grate on their nerves.
Otherwise a great book much enjoyed.

Enthralling nonstop adventure,danger,action
The most appauling embarrising, insulting Australian accent I have heard since the ancient chips Rafferty movies , just after sound was added to cinematic entertainment .

Story
Before he was anointed to carry on the legacy of Robert Ludlum's Janson Command series, and before he collaborated with Clive Cussler on the fan favorite Isaac Bell series, Justin Scott created this suspenseful adventure tale, a novel of love and revenge set on the high seas. Written in 1978, this is considered by many to be one of the best maritime thrillers of all time. As an expert in the world of ships and sailing, Justin Scott creates an authentic maritime world, making The Shipkiller all the more thrilling because it could be a true story.

Story
In remote, icy Greenland, ex-Air Force General Steven Macaulay helps lead an expedition to recover a lost World War II plane. Encased in ice below is a find that will astonish the world - a perfectly-preserved Viking ship, buried for nearly a thousand years, along with the frozen corpses of nine crewmen. Assembling the foremost Viking scholars, Macaulay tasks the gorgeous Lexy Vaughan to translate the ship’s markings - until her work is cut short when her colleagues are murdered.

Story
In this prequel to Eon, Greg Bear continues to explore the possibilities presented by the asteroid Thistledown, a remnant of a lost human civilization. The Way is a tunnel through space and time that leads to other worlds, some more like planet Earth than Earth itself. It is perhaps the most formidable discovery in Thistledown and with it come disputes as to the nature of the Way and how it should be used. The Way can be reached only through Axis City, the only space station of Thistledown.
