Publisher's summary

Perfect for fans of Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.

Sworn to a goddess. One with her blade. A heart yet unbroken.

It would have been only one more year of training. One year in the dust and wind of the Calma Desert. But Gandrett Brayton’s fate storms in disguised as a beautiful stranger with a damning secret.

As he forces her into the service of the lord who tore her from her mother’s arms ten years ago to commit her to the Order of Vala, Gandrett is left with a choice: run, or work for the man she despises and earn the chance to see her family again.

Trained with all the weapons she can wield with her hands, Gandrett must learn that at the courts of the shattered kingdom of Sives, her sword won’t help her - especially when it is her own heart on the line.

Fae, magic, and a heart-throbbing adventure will keep listeners entranced until the last minute.

Shattered Kingdom is best-selling author Angelina J. Steffort's new young adult epic fantasy romance about a girl who's heart could change the course of history.

Great book bad narration

The book was Amazing! Been in a slump so this was great. Fast pace. Cared about the main characters. The narrator however was all over the place. I didn’t know if I was listening to the same person sometimes between kingdoms-but not in a purposeful or pleasant way, some characters has different voices, some none. Some had different pitches accents some none. It was hard to discern who was talking at time. I want audible for voices. Anyhow. This type of book should have splurged on 4 narrators. Or at least 2

Fascinating

Intriguing plot with lots of twists. I’m very surprised this the only book, since it’s seems there could be more in the world.
The characters are deep.

Kingdom

This started out slow, and it really didn’t pick up for me until Gandrett met Armand. Let’s be honest, that is when the story starts to unfold, and you get to experience that ‘edge of your seat’ feeling. It's a good story, and I will be reading the next book. Oh, I forgot to mention the narration. I didn't care for this narrator. I felt the story deserved dual narration - but that is just my opinion.

really struggled with the narration choice

The narrator himself isnt terrible by any means, but he just isn't able to do this particular story justice. I was unable to differentiate between different POVs, as all his characters sound the same. It was an interesting choice on the authors part to choose a male narrator for a book that has a female main character. Especially more so as there were multiple viewpoints and the voice never changes from that of a deep male voice. It t was off-putting and I couldn't get past that. if I go back to this book, it'll be via ebook.

I tried…..but couldnt.

I absolutely could not listen to the entire book. The narration was terrible. I tried changing the speed of his narration but that didn’t help at all. I listened to the first 11 chapters and just couldn’t do it anymore. I really wanted this to be a good book series.
