Publisher's summary

The coldest shadows.

Arcano-archaeologist Elijah knows that digging into the past can be its own reward - or peril. When he’s hired to find an ancient map purported to lead to a mysterious location at the bottom of the world, his professional curiosity is more than roused. But his quest to simply get his hands on the map is more dangerous than he expected - even for a shadowrunner. He and his own team of runners - including everything from a goblin rigger to a troll street samurai - follow a murky trail that takes them from the ruins of Chicago to the jungles of Amazonia. Along the way, they discover that they’re not the only ones looking for this map - and that it may lead to a treasure even greater than anyone could have known. Elijah and his crew plan to get both the map and to its riches first - assuming they survive the very dangerous road trip to get there....

Finally!! A Shadowrun book is on audible!!!

I'm a big Shadowrun fan, so I'm thrilled to find an audio book from this fun universe. Great mix of cyberpunk and fantasy, and a good story. The narrator did a fantastic job with the voices, and the vocal augmentation that was done for radio chatter was very well done. GIVE US MORE SHADOWRUN!!!!

Something New

I've known about the pen and paper game and SNES games that take place in this world and thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. The story and characters are engaging. If you are into world-building, this story has it. It's even better if you know a little bit about the lure of the big companies, why they employ Independent contractors (Shadowrunners) to do thier dirty work, and why magic returned to the world.

If you've ever read/listened to Altered Carbon, this book has a very similar feel to it.

If stories about magic, futuristic technology, have a Bladerunner vibe or paint a picture of a dystopian future are your thing, definitely try this one out. I hope more of them are forthcoming. Highest recommendation.

Hope they make more Shadowrun audio books

Pretty good story, and fantastic narrator except for one thing: he pronounced IC like the letters I and C, rather than the Shadowrun colloquial “ice”. Other than that, I have no real complaints. Would def buy another one by this narrator in Shadowrun.

This is Shadowrun literature!

I own a hard copy of this book, and have read it. When I finally saw a Shadowrun novel in the Audiobook format. This performance was better than I hoped. Great character inflections. The story IS Shadowrun in its element.

I highly recommend this book.

Worth a read if you are a Shadowrun fan

Too much Shadowrun for a casual reader. Overly dramatized. Pick meters or feet and stick with it. Typical boring troll. Blow stuff up huh huh. I’m stupid. Typical adapt. Best character is goblin. Lead character is boring and miserably fails as a leader only to shrug it off and still think everyone should be listening. They totally ignore a major issue toward the end while claiming to be professional runners. Of course it then leads to them getting hit. Typical Shadowrun adventure but not a good story.

Shadowrun: Fire & Frost - Get it now

Science and magic come to life in Shadowrun, and Fire & Frost delivers in a big way.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys intrigue and a copious amount of mature 007 action, in a Shadowrun-verse that begs future exploring!

I recommend this book to anyone who’s a fan of Syfy and fantasy.

Like Cyberpunk, then definitely take a closer look.

If you secretly liked Netflix’s BrIght and can’t explain why? Then get Shadowrun: Fire & Frost, jack-in and take a leap into a vérse both old and new.

If Netflix’s BrIght is one of your guilty pleasures, then get Shadowrun: Fire & Frost; jack-in, ‘free your mind’ and take a leap into a vérse both old and new.

Loved the extra effort.

I had been searching for Shadowrun books everytime my monthly Audible credit came in, for over a year (Now to wait on Robotech). When they finally added one to the service I was not disappointed.

Not only does the Narrator put in the effort to give each character a unique voice, but they even include environmental filters for some of the dialogue.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed this and look forward to more becoming available.

A rollicking good time!

This is a 4 act play of a shadowrun adventure arc. It was really entertaining, I wish audible would do more ShadowRun books. If you like ShadowRun I recommend this. If you like caper books, set in dystopian near future earth where magic has come back along side of the future tech. You should probably be playing ShadowRun...but also reading more of the books.

great narration and story

a great story that covers the highs and lows of runners in a cyberpunk setting. it captures the vibe of shadowrun and Trent does an excellent job bringing each character to life. the end is ambiguous as befits a universe where the ground level people dont often see the impact of the action but the interpersonal relationships are fantastic among the main cast.

if you're a fan of cyberpunk then definitely give this a go. just be prepared for some magic along the way!

A Fantastic Ride

After finishing this I really wish there were more books in the Shadowrun universe for Audible. Trent Sparks does a wonderful job narrating the story with distinct voices and an overall captivating performance.
