Publisher's Summary

Where Man Meets Magic and Machine....

The year is 2050. The power of magic and the creatures it brings have returned to the earth, and many of the ancient races have re-emerged. Elves, Orks, Mages, and lethal Dragons find a home in a world where mana, technology, and human flesh have melded into deadly urban predators. And the multinational mega-corporations that run the world hoard the only thing of real value - information.

For Sam Verner, living in the womb of the Renraku conglomerate was easy, until his sister disappeared and the façade of the corporate reality began to disintegrate. Now he wants out, but to "extract" himself he has to slide like a whisper through the deadly shadows the corporations cast, into a completely different world where his first wrong move may be his last...the world of Shadowrun.

Happy to have some more Shadowrun on Audible

This is one of the foundations of Shadowrun fiction: cyberpunk meets fantasy in just the perfect blend to me. While I think the character of Sam Verner can be pretty self righteous and annoying at times, this book is a must listen for Cyberpunk fans because the world of Shadowrun just shines through. It's such a cool setting. Give it a try chummers, and hopefully we’ll get more Shadowrun on Audible....

Ready Chummer?

Alright, I will admit. I have been in love with Shadowrun for over half my life. First read the core book in 1996. Run most of the editions after that. This is a sweet breath of Nostalgia. I haven't read any of these books in almost 20 years. I still love this one. The performance in it is great. Cannot wait to get the next.

enjoyed

I was always a fan of the Shadow Run books. And it's been quite a while since I read this book, mid 90's maybe either way long enough ago to make listening to it enjoyable. Great story and intro into that world.

Wonderful effect, but hard to follow

I wish other publishers would do similar vocal effects for comms and dragons. They're excellent.

This was wiz, chummers.

I first read this novel 30 years ago, when I first discovered Shadowrun. Robert Charrette paints an amazing view of the Awakened World of 2050, where Man meets Magic and Machine. With the terrible abridgements of the author's Battletech work, I was overjoyed to find this novel in its complete and unabridged form. The performance was solid, and the story as awesome as I remember it. I'm starting the second novel right now, and looking forward to more of Mr. Charrette's work getting the unabridged treatment.

The title says it all

Interesting and intricate story and very well read. Reminds me of my 'running' days. Well worth a read whether you have ever played the RPG or not.

Shadowrun is back!

I revisited this story from a long time ago and it is as good as ever. Brilliant performance although once or twice the volume dropped midsentence to return after a few words to the original level. Apart from that it's superb. I'm waiting for the rest of the trilogy.

Shadowrun for Lyfe baby. Yeah.

Shadowrun. The best pulp sci-fi magic fantasy technopunk universe ever created was originally a painful roleplaying game (ugh) but then some legend wrote a ton of books, the first being these 3 in a saga. They set off a span of about 30 books in the 1990s, and now there are around another 20 more modern books in the last 10 years. Cheesy pulp sci-fi at it's best. Shadowrun for Lyfe.
