Rescuers. Avengers. Thieves. Spies.

The life of a knight mage is never easy, but sometimes the gods smile on you and grant you an errand of incredible complexity...without regards to casualties.

When Tyndal and Rondal, journeymen wizards and knights errant, travel to southern Alshar to rescue a helpless boy and his mother, it sets in motion a series of events that will shake the foundations of the Five Duchies! While they are beginning their quest against the vast criminal gang known as the Brotherhood of the Rat, the two knights encounter the Cats of Enultramar, a family of shadowmagi (masters of shadow, illusion, and obfuscation) and high-class thieves who help them discover a plot to attack the rich lands and prosperous people of Alshar, from the Wilderlands to the Great Bay...and only Rondal and Tyndal can stop them.

From thugs and thieves to irate Censors of Magic to dragons and undead, the intrepid pair face the challenges of a new land and an old enemy. For when a new, powerful threat in the form of the Necromancer of Olum Seheri looms against them, the brave young knights magi can only hope to defeat it with the help of a...shadowmage!

As all the previous books in this series, this too delivered hours of entertainment with heroism, laughter and just plain well written storyline.

Always a good story, and fun to view the unfolding events from the two apprentices!
~~But the real fun hits when the book ends and there is still 4 hours left of book! We get back to my boy Min and the story and events are super rich!!

Good! The End is the best!

I just finished and cant wait for the next books to be released. HBO should make this their new series since G.O.T.'s is done.

Wonderful story

Needless to say, another GREAT BOOK by Mancour and narrated by John Lee! Sadly I havent found the HAwklady books nearly as appealing...

Which brings me to...why hasnt audible released books 10 & 11? Theyve been made. Its just kind of odd. The hawklady books just arent the same experience...

my 2 cents

Great book! Where are the rest in the series?

Everytime I think I've got a good grip on who the threat is and what big powers are at play, another theatre of what the hell is that pops up. Truly existential crisis indeed. Top marks to the narration.

Dark Horizons

Was initially put off that this was yet another jump away from Min and the main plot; I'm eager as hell to see where this ends up. However, as with Warmage, following Tin & Ron is always fun.
Knocked off a star just because it felt a little rushed, but when your protagonists can teleport, what are you gonna do. I always enjoyed how this series describes magic working, and this seemed a little light on that, but a lot more action to make up for it.
Also, the second novella is tacked on the end of this, which is nice. Wish that happened for Spellmonger's Honeymoon.
