Adrian was born a couple hundred years too late to witness humans ruling the stars.

The days of relentless scientific advancement are long gone. Humanity's former cradle has become the birthplace of nightmares, so Adrian lives on a world far from Terra.

But Adrian has a secret. His eyes are failing him, and in this age, blindness means death. When the chance arrives to earn a couple quick credits for a new pair of cybernetic eyes, he jumps on it. Only, Adrian gets more than he bargained for. With a slew of gangs, corpos, and a ruthless scientist now on his tail, he needs to do his best to survive and keep their hands off the prototype tech stuck inside of his skull.

Oh, and his new eyes are making him see horrors beyond mortal comprehension, but no biggie… right?

Perfect for fans of Cyber Dreams, Cyberpunk 2077, and Neuromancer! Expect a world where sci-fi meets eldritch nightmares and everyone is worse off, a determined MC who's out to make life better, and a unique cyberpunk/eldritch world. What not to expect? A story where the MC has tons of plot armor, a story where only the MC is capable of using his head, and cardboard side characters.

If the name didn't give it away it's more Shadow Run than Cyberpunk. for those unfamiliar Cyberpunk + high fantasy = Shadow Run.

The plot doesn't require everyone to be idiots so it's already better than some books i could list. It has decent world building that unfolds naturally, all of the charters seem like they have more going on than just being props for the story and by the end of the book enough was set up that I'm interested in knowing what comes next.

good start

Definitely a winner in my estimation. I'm very much looking forward to the next book. It sticks to fairly normal cyberpunk territory for most of the book. However, the last few hours do dip into some fairly gruesome and trippy horror so just be prepared for that. Overall, I loved the book. The narrator is also excellent and brings the characters to life very well.

Nice blend of cyberpunk and horror.

Loved it. Store was interesting all the way through. Got me ready for books 2+ whenever they become available. Narrator did a fantastic job with it too. Some of the accents weren't what I expected from the characters but they were good. Easy to understand but different enough that it kept the cast feeling alive and natural.

Great!

Has anyone else noticed that capture and torture has become a trope in the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre these days? It seems to happen unfortunately often. Even in books like this where the author attempts to insert humor into the situation. Do readers really enjoy that? I'd really like to see more authors find some other, more creative ways of enriching their stories.
Anyway, I enjoyed the book well enough up to that point. The writing is decent, and the story is interesting. I think it would have been better if told in third person, and with less introspection, but it was alright.

Pretty good up to the imprisonment and torture
