Publisher's Summary

When a child goes missing, his mother asks me to help. After all, she believes he was taken by a monster and that’s my field of expertise. The search leads to the storm drains of Dearmont; not a good place to be when you’ve seen as many horror movies as I have.

Turns out the monstrous kidnapper is also responsible for the mysterious disappearance of a patient from a psychiatric hospital nearby. And as I investigate further, I'm pushed into the waiting arms of an old nemesis.

Missing children, fishy creatures, and icy curses are all in a day’s work for Harbinger P.I. But when Mister Scary shows up, the hardest job is staying alive.

Fantastic series

Fantastic narration. Greg Tremblay was the perfect choice for this series. He keeps all the characters distinct throughout the series and even gets the regional accents right. He is truly amazing. This is a series worth listening to over and over.

Solid Series, Solid Writing, Solid Narrating

The books are a little shorter than most, but still long enough to put together a good Preternatural Investigative story.

I have enjoyed listening to the whole series so far, and I have decent respect for the narrator Greg Tremblay.

The Unveiling of Mr. Scary

Shadow Land may be the best in this series. Even though it doesnt involve any Fae or his sidekick (Leon) from the other stories, it has the best storyline thus far. There are multiple layers and some real investigating from our Paranormal Investigator.

Alex and Felicity are commissioned to find a missing kid, hunt a water monster, and kill the infamous Mr. Scary. First, I'd like to say again how stupid I think that name is for a bad guy. Proper villians deserve a cooler name.

The story is still short to me. That is my continuous complaint with the entire series, so at least the author is consistent.

I'm not sure how I feel about the romance angle. It doesnt get any real reaction out of me and I feel the story would be just as strong without it. I actually like when he uses Leon for back-up. I hope we get more of him in future installments.

3 Stars 🌟🌟🌟- Good Book. I like the overall concept and it was delivered well. Most common ranking for a book I enjoyed and look forward to the next.

Love the series, but what's with the accents?

I took a chance on the audio version of this book, as I love the series! However, everyone except Felicity (who's forced British accent is barely tolerable) and Alec, sound like a mix of Boston and New Hampshire accented voices. Not everyone in Maine has the JFK speech pattern.
I still love the series, but will stick to the kindle books. I'd give the story 5 stars, but other than the main protagonist 's voice, I had a tough time with the narration and took it down to just 4.

THIS IS A GREAT SERIES!

I have enjoyed this series and every time a new one comes out it is just as enjoyable. I love Greg Tremblay's narration. He makes the story come even more alive. His voice acting is fantastic. i will sometimes by the audible just because he is voicing it. But if you enjoy a lot of action throughout i suggest this series.

Another engaging installment

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series and this latest book is the best yet. The Arthurian legend angle is advanced and this adds a new and interesting aspect to the story. I like Alec Harbinger because he isn't omnipotent or arrogant. He works things out and not everything is accomplished by magic. The characters are interesting and the story always has twists and turns. The narrator is wonderful, too. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Excellent Urban Fantasy

I'm totally hooked on this series and really feel it has hit an excellent stride with this book. Loved the interweaving of the different subplots and the characters are well developed. I'm really looking forward to book 6.

Foreshadowed

I love the twists and turns of this book and actually found it fun to get to the foreshadowed moments. As a fantasy gamer and avid reader some of the outcomes were more “yep.. thought so” rather than real surprises. Despite my foreknowledge, the book was enjoyable and well paced though it might have been just a touch too edited for brevity and some plot points were a little fast

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant

Have listened to all in the series and can honestly say I am disappointed it’s ended, can’t wait for the next one, only tiny criticism, the stories are too short. Would make a great tv program
